Animalia Magazine: Christmas 'Around the World' Edition

added by makutamon A year ago O

The Christmas edition of Animalia Magazine not only talked about the evolution of Christmas 'traditions', including which ones were relatively recent and which ones were 'ancient', but also about how Christmas was celebrated differently in other countries. It was something to read about how many different variations there were of Santa in Europe alone. It wasn't just Christmas that was talked about in the issue.

There was also an article that talked about Hanukah, since there were now a few Jews who had come into Animalia a few months back. It was something to learn about how the holiday originated with a mad Syrian king trying to force Greek traditions into Jewish lands, where it was obviously not wanted, and it was rather satisfying to learn that said Syrian King eventually died of a serious parasitic worm infestation. But there were a few other things in the article that were surprising to learn about, such as the struggle for the high priesthood that took place at roughly the same time.

---

There were also a few articles that talked about well-known movies, shows, stories, and even cartoon episodes that focused on Christmas and its miracles. The stories the articles referenced weren't always about people selling their most beloved possessions for their loved ones. One story, for example, talked about how a young boy admired a train set in a toy store, but the whole thing was far too expensive for any one member of his family to buy. Fortunately, each family member (without knowing what anyone else in the family was doing) decided to purchase the part of the train set they could afford, allowing the boy to have the entire set as his "Christmas miracle".

---

Another set of articles contained easy to follow, Christmas-themed, recipes that were easy to make on short notice. While most of them were desserts, there were some other dishes included as well, ranging from entrees to main courses, and there were even a few snack recipes as well.

---

Altogether, the two-part Christmas Issue was both informative and entertaining to read and had plenty of things to keep people sane while waiting for Christmas.
