Ty's Power

Ty Visits Damian

added by Zoran 3 years ago O

As Ty lies on his bed, thinking about what else he could do with his new found powers, a thought pops into his mind, „I think, before I try anything else, I should first learn to control my power,“ he says to himself. The 15-year-old nods to himself as he decides to keep his powers a secret from everyone, at least until he feels that he can control it.

Ty's phone, or rather Dustin's old handed down phone, an old Nokia, starts to ring. The teen looks at the number, “I wonder what Damian wants,” he mumbles, before answering, “hey Damian, what's up?”

Damian is a 16-year-old, with short black hair, a natural light-brown tan and brown eyes, he also has an athletic body. “I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday,” he says, “you don't sound to happy. Let me guess: your foster family are treating you like trash as always”.

Ty sighs, “yeah... I don't even remember when I last had an real birthday,” he says, “thanks by the way,” he adds.

“No problem,” Damian says, “listen, would you like to spend the rest of the weekend with me? I could use some company, my folks are out and I could use some help clearing out the garage”.

Ty thought for a while, “I doubt my foster parents will let me go,” he says, “I got to do yard work, I'll ask them and call you back”. The boy ends the call, he then walks downstairs and to his foster dad, “sir, may I ask something,” he says timidly.

The old man groans and rolls his eyes, “make it short,” he says.

“Um... after I have done the yard work,” Ty starts, “may I be allowed to spend the rest of the weekend at a friend's house?”

The old man turns and looks at the young boy, “and why would I allow that,” he asks.

'Answer wisely, Ty,' Ty thinks to himself, “well... um... y-you'd have me out the house for two full days. Y-you actually are n-not happy of me being here”.

The old man scowls, but Ty can tell that his answer hit a nerve, “damn right,” his “dad” snaps, “you are nothing more then a burden to us. If we could, we would send you back to that orphanage, but since we signed a contract four six months, we are stuck with you”.

'And I don't see what I did wrong to deserve such hate,' Ty thinks to himself.

Mark lets out a sigh, “okay, fine,” he then says, “you make a good point. Just make sure you do it right and you'll be free to go”.

“Yes, sir,” Ty says.

“Good, now get out of my sight,” Mark responses.

Ty nods, he turns and heads to the back door, he stops and looks into the yard, “man, Mark wasn't joking,” he mumbles, “well, better get started”.

After two hours in the heat, Ty finally finished with his yard work, “finally, better call Mark,” he says and turns to walk into the house, “I just hope he'll be pleased”. Ty finds his foster-dad in the kitchen, “sir, I am finished,” he says, “I thought you'd like to check before I leave”.

Mark looks up, “wow, you actually thought of something,” the man says, he then pushes his way past Ty, without looking at the boy, “let's see if I will be satisfied”. Mark opens the back door and steps out into the yard, Ty is right behind him.

“Well, sir,” Ty asks carefully.

Mark looks around, kneels down, stands back up, then nods, “you did a good job,” he says, “I think I can allow you to go,” with that the man turns and walks back into the house.

Ty does not waste one second, he dashes up to his room and packs a few things, then he hurries out the front door. The boy jumps onto the next bus and sighs as he feels the freedom fill his body, “two days away from that hell,” he mumbles to himself with a small smile.

After an hour he arrives at his friend's house, Ty rings the door bell and a second later a beaming Damian is looking down at the boy. Ty is a head shorter than Damian, which for Ty is sometimes pretty annoying. “Welcome,” Damian says, stepping aside, “come in”.

“Thanks Day,” Ty says, smiling up at his only friend as he steps into the house.

“You can leave your stuff in my room,” Damian says as he closes the door, “meet me in the garage, I gotta continue cleaning it out”.

Ty hurries up to Damian's room and throws his backpack onto the camping bed, which Damian set up for him, before heading back down stairs. He hurries towards the garage, where Damian is already moving heavy boxes, “I'm here,” he says, “what can I do to help,” he then asks.

Damian sets the box down on a cart, “you can help me get these boxes out,” he says, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Ty walks over to the pile of boxes, he crouches down and groans as he heaves one of the boxes up, “damn, what the hell is inside of these,” he asks.

“All sorts of things,” Damian says, “books, old toys, old clothes. We plan to sell them at the flea market tomorrow,” he explains.

Ty nods an understanding, “why do your parents want the garage cleaned anyway,” he asks, putting the box onto the cart.

“To make room for a second car,” Damian says, “sadly, it won't be my car,” he continues.

“Oh, I thought you said your parents would give you a car once you've achieved your license”.

Damian nods, “yeah, but I'll be getting the old and rusty beetle,” he says, “it is not the best, actually it is a pile of trash,” he continues, eyeing the said car, which is standing in the far corner of the garage.

Ty looks at the Beetle and sighs, “you deserve better,” he says.

Damian smiles, “thanks,” he says, “I'll make it work, I am currently saving up some cash and maybe I can sell the car. I got to ask my parents first though”.

The two boys continue moving the boxes, after two hours the garage is cleared. Ty and Damian pull up some camping chairs and grab some cold Coke from the small fridge in the garage. “We have managed a lot,” Ty says, sitting down in one of the chairs, “I think four cars could fit in here now,” he adds with a chuckle.

“Hehe, yeah,” Damian says, “it is pretty roomy”.

After a long pause, Ty asks, “Damian, if you had three wishes, what would they be,” unaware of the danger.

“Hmm...,” Damian says, “I am actually happy, but... if I would have three wishes I might wish for world peace, a girlfriend and a cool car”.

“Hmm...,” Ty says, he looks over at the beaten up Beetle, “if I were you, I'd wish for a car. A girlfriend can wait, besides: with a cool car it won't be hard to hook a hot chick,” he says with a grin.

Damian grins back, “yeah,” he says, “and only a god can bring world peace”.

Ty nods, “what kind of car would you want the most,” he asks, “I mean: what is your dream car”.

“Hm... my dream car,” Damian says, “is a...”.
