As Laura considered whether she was going to relax or look up how to fix herself, her eyes landed on the boxes of supplies she had ordered online. She suddenly remembered something she had bought that she had been particularly excited about.
Laura eagerly toddled over to the boxes and dug through the diapers, baby wipes, clothes, snacks, and other items. Finally, she located her treasure: a sparkly pink pacifier. She took it out of the package and popped it into her mouth, suckling happily.
“Haf to kween up now,” she said around the pacifier, looking at the things she had thrown around the room in her rush to get her new binky. She took her time picking everything up and putting it away, in part because she kept getting distracted. She had really bought some great things, and was having difficulty resisting the urge to use them.
She eventually caved and put on a soft, fuzzy, white onesie. Laura let out a sigh of happiness as the comfortable fabric hugged her body. She toddled back to the boxes, to see if there was anything left to put away. Her eyes widened. There was an adorable doll, perfect for a toddler to play with. It must have been a freebie after buying so many items. Or maybe she had accidentally added it to the cart. Either way, she was thrilled.
Laura took the doll out of the box and sat down on the floor to play with her new toy. She giggled happily. A thought slowly drifted across her mind. Did she actually want to be an adult again? Being an adult sucked. It was full of responsibilities and bills and stressful things like that. All Laura wanted was to sit on the floor in her onesie and diaper, sucking on her binky and playing with her dolly.
The moment she had the thought, Laura knew it to be true. She didn’t want to be an adult again. She wanted to stay a toddler! But if she was going to be a toddler long-term, she was going to need someone to help take care of her. Sure, she’d been handling things pretty well on her own so far, but that was short-term.
Laura needed an adult to be her legal guardian. She sucked on her pacifier thoughtfully, trying to decide who she would ask.
