You wish to be a taur

added A year ago A BM S Canine

"Have you ever heard of a… taur?"

"That reminds me of a centaur… mind you explain it a bit more?"

You know your description has to be as specific as possible, such that you don't become a mangled mess of limbs.
"Exactly. A taur is similar to a centaur, in that there are two torsos forming an L-shape, with four legs on the lower torso and two arms on the upper torso; but instead of the upper half being human and the lower half being a horse, both belong to the same species, say, a fox or ferret. If you imagine a centaur as a horse with its head replaced by a human torso, arms and head, think of a taur as the animal with its head replaced by an upright, anthropomorphic torso, arms and head of that same species."

"That, I can do. Which species do you want, then?"

"A dog. Specifically, an Irish setter. I have no specific preference for the fur pattern. I shall have my memories and behaviour intact, but with the basic canine instincts for survival. The legs and both torsos shall be scaled accordingly to my current human ones, with the lower torso strong enough to carry a person on its back like a horse or camel would. My head shall be fully canine, with the exception that I can form both human and canine vocalisations.
I shall remain in the human society, with identity documents modified to fit my current form and everyone remembering me as a dog taur from day one. To avoid any complications, different man-made structures, such as chairs, stairs, toilets, vehicles, office cubicles and restaurants, shall be adapted to my existence as a dog taur, and I shall be given the same treatment as I would as a human, without a modicum of discrimination, though my increased size and body shape shall be given adequate accommodation, and I will not be required to wear any articles of clothing, though the clothing currently in my possession will be altered to fit my fair body."

"As you wish, master."

You feel your entire body becoming taller, your spine stretching slowly. You can also sense two nubs growing from your midsection, protruding out of your lengthening torso and growing forward. As they grow, several digits begins to split out from the end of the protrusion, and the protrusion split into two sections such that that could bend inward like a leg would. You lift up one of the protrusions with a hand and see a dog paw, just far smaller than one on a grown dog, then let go to let the changes continue.

Below your waist you feel the other changes occur to accommodate for a quadrupedal stance. The portion of the torso below the legs begin to sprout fur all over, as you try to rub the belly fur followed by the fur on the back with your hand. It takes a while for the fur to stop growing, as you, with your hand, feel the fur coat gradually thicken until the iconic dense, red coat of the Irish setter completely grows in. Your hind legs also begin to grow fur, but you find it more difficult to bend so far down to reach there without losing your balance and falling. Your human feet begin to reshape, claws growing out of each digit while the big toes recedes to become the dewclaws, and the heels slowly lifted off the ground, as if you are standing on tiptoes. This feels difficult to balance, bit the upcoming changes will make up for it.

As the spine continues to elongate, another nub shoots from your rump, fur sprouting all over again to form the iconic bushy tail. In the middle of your spine, a new hipbone is formed to accommodate the waist, it being joined to the spine of the lower torso instead of the tailbone, and to the growing front legs, signifying the complete split of your body into two torsos. Once the front legs form completely, with the paws, claws and heel completely structured as in a dog, fur sprouted from them too, as you feel your centre of weight shifting forwards, your spine denting forward where the new hip is formed that pushes your front legs to land on the floor. Now that you stand on four paws, the issue of balancing while standing on tiptoes vanishes.

You turn your head and upper torso around to look at your lower torso, seeing the back of an Irish setter. You try to raise your tail, and it enters your sight, previously blocked by the lower torso, then lower it again. You stand straight up again and bend forwards all the way down to see the four legs and the furred belly on your lower half, finally getting to witness the four digitigrade paws and (lowered) tail with your very eyes…
Human eyes. Nothing changed for anything above the waist.

"Your wish is comple-"

"Nope. Maybe I need to clarify a bit. The portion above the waist should be an anthropomorphic version of the lower body, with the hand becoming paw-like but still functioning as hands, while the head is fully canine, with the capabilities of speech retained."

"Oh, right. Whoops."

You lower your head (not upper torso) and see your waist where the fur coat abruptly stops and transitions to human skin, as in a traditional centaur… when, suddenly, the fur coat climbs up your upper torso gradually, as you curiously caress your upper belly with your hands, the fur having the same thick, dense texture as that on your lower torso. The fur ultimately spreads to your arms where it climbs down until it reaches the palms, as you see paw pads grow on the plan and fingers, and claws grow from your fingers, only that the fingers remain dexterous, especially the thumb, fully maintaining its opposable property instead of devolving into the dewclaw. Fascinated, you clasp your fingers one by one, feeling the claws touch the paw pad in the palm.

The changes eventually reach your head. Your head stretches forward to form a muzzle, the nose becoming black and moist, and your tongue lengthening as well to fit perfectly into the muzzle. You tentatively let out a bark, being wholly fascinated by the sound you have just made. Your nose becomes much, much more acute, receiving the scent of more than you could have noticed as a human… only to find it overwhelmed with that of dust and empty food packages.
"Time to clean your room," remarked the genie sardonically.
Your ears migrate to the top of your head, becoming floppy flaps that rest nearly on your head, while your hearing becomes much, much more acute, hearing the… firecrackers of your neighbours that, now, seems to crack your ears open! Your eyes ache slightly and close to avoid the change damaging them; once you reopen them, the colours become slightly duller, but the field of vision is a bit wider.

You look for the full body mirror of the room, and see nothing but an anthropomorphic Irish setter; the line of vision is blocked by your upper torso, such that your lower torso cannot be seen. You turn your entire body ninety degrees to the right, and walk forward slightly such that your lower torso enters the mirror, then turn towards the mirror to take a look at your marvellous body.

No longer do you have to resort to writing stories on a certain site to fulfill your wish of becoming a dog taur, all thanks to this genie. You try to lick the genie to express your affection, only to hear him respond: "Same treatment as a human!" The tongue retracts to your muzzle and you cower your head in shame.

The story has only truly begun: what is a life as a dog taur like, and how will society adapt to your existence?

(Yes, this is getting repetitive. Last dog taur thread, I swear.)
