Laire gritted her teeth as the wing brushed by her, missing her head by just a few inches. Who puts a wyvern inside a cave? Is all she is thinking as while the fight is definitely her hardest yet, the wyvern isn't even able to capitalize on its ability to fly. However it still is challenging nonetheless.
By now, many of her superficial injuries were bleeding as debris has knocked against her frequently enough to cause a minor amount of damage. Laire runs in to make the final strike and succeeds in doing it, but unfortunately for her, it came at a cost. Several areas of her body were bleeding now, and worst of all, her mouth had sustained a lot of damage as a blast from the impact of one of the wyvern's attacks had shot a rock clean through both cheeks. But even this was a good thing, as Laire knew exactly what to fix it with.
Carefully, she carved out several scales and patched up her bleeding body with them. For her mouth, she took the wyvern's cheek flesh and patched herself up with that. However, made sure it included the 2 small holes where the ultimate attack of the wyvern came out from.
Laire stood up and took a deep breath. She focused on the opposite side of the cave and opened her mouth as wide as she could and tried firing her new means of attacking. Static began forming inside her mouth and then a beam of pure lightning shot out towards her target, scorching the rocks and even melting several of them instantly. Unfortunately, in her excitement, Laire had forgotten about one crucial aspect of wyvern's which she herself lacked. They were resistant to their own attacks.
Laire in her haste had just destroyed her own tongue. It had disintegrated instantly. With only one option left, Laire cut off the small thin tip of the wyvern's tongue and replaced her destroyed one with it. It fit inside her mouth, but felt different. Mainly due to it being forked, and able to stretch out to be even longer if she tried to. She also gained a lot of information with it, which was something she could only trust was similar to how a snake senses its environment with its tongue. The good part was that she could still speak with it, though now with a slight lisp that she hoped would disappear once she is more use to using it.
After taking a break, and eating some cooked wyvern meat. Laire noticed how every spot she used a scale to patch up, had been slightly changed. Instead of the awkwardly protruding scale it once was, her body had integrated it into itself and formed a perfect blend around the area. The large scale was broken down into several smaller ones, and they flowed in and out of her human skin as if they were a tattoo, rather than a completely different material. She did appreciate this though, as it made moving around much easier as apposed to having to account for the bulky scales.
The scaled over areas of her body were pretty extensive now that she looked at it. Most of her arms and a good portion of her legs and torso now had patches of the icy blue scales. Her cheeks especially were also coated in them. However she felt that they were pretty looking, and went well with her silvery blonde hair. Her left hand, having suffered the most damage after her gauntlet had been destroyed a few areas before, was entirely coated in scales now. Even between her finger were now webbed like the wyvern's wings. And her nails had turned black and pointed, almost as if they were...
Laire could only laugh after seeing this. Her left finger nails had been reformed into small, wyvern-like talons. Razor sharp and extremely hard due to primarily being used to cling onto cliff faces. They could easily puncture holes through steel and rock with only a small bit of force behind them. Laire flexed her left hand a bit. getting use to the new feeling of it, and understanding that she will never be able to form a fist with it again. But while she cannot punch with it anymore, a single jab or swipe from it could be lethal to a knight in full armor if she were to target a vital spot. At least the points were the only sharp parts though, as if it were the entire edge, she would forever need to be careful to not accidently harm herself, someone else, or break things open, etc. The points were manageable though, as a simple oversized gauntlet could cover over them if needed.
After her break, Laire geared back up and continued down to the next level.
