While Christmas was officially over, Animalia's Christmas celebrations were still going strong, partly because of the pandemic preventing larger groups from gathering. Fortunately, things were moving in the right direction in terms of the pandemic drawing to an end. Because of that, some people were starting the new year with various new things.
---
Probably what was the biggest thing was a report from Dino City. Miss Fabina's friend/representative had met with Glen Rose's city council and had reached an acceptable middle ground with them in terms of Dinotopian porn. For example, if any Dinotopians wanted to do porn, they had to sign up in advance and travel to Lyre to do the shooting, and the whole thing had to be voluntary, so no rape/BDSM/etc. was allowed.

Probably what was considered the biggest thing starting up at this time was when all the tiger Animalians began training for this year's Chinese New Year celebration, which was the Year of the Tiger. On Heiya Island, both Liao and her new friends were surprised to learn that Liao had been chosen to take part, especially since Liao thought herself as too young to compete in such an event, but that didn't mean she wouldn't give her best shot at it.

Another thing that was going on, which was to be somewhat expected, was a new surge in new converts. This time, however, it was a surge of both men and women with moderate to severe weight problems. While there had been a few cases of people becoming Animalians to deal with obesity, now there were large groups of people with both health and weight problems coming to Animalia to not only lose all that weight, but also become healthier overall, with roughly 50% of them being tied to New Year Resolutions.
It wasn't just Lyre/Animalia that people struggling with obesity were traveling to. There were those who were traveling to Animalia's colonies (after testing negative for Covid, of course) for similar reasons, with Dino City taking first, Mieni Atoll taking second, and Heiya Island taking third, metaphorically speaking.
One result of this was a new surge in both male and female RHS (with male RHS labeled as "frat boy syndrome" on the website, and female RHS getting labeled as "party girl syndrome", to match). Fortunately, there were now many different ways of keeping RHS in check, and not just being dancers/entertainers.

With 2022 already showing to be better than both 2020 and 2021, everyone in Animalia and its colonies was optimistic.
