Glancing at the clock Spark now flew towards Connors room. Caleb had given her the day off, meaning the fairy was free to hang around the house with Connor. Peering into Connors room the fairy could see that the 12 year old had fallen asleep.
Spark now flew to Connor, landing on the boys sleeping chest. "Connor," she yelled. "Hey Connor wake up!" Connor didn't even stir, the preteen continuing to snore softly.
Spark sighed, walking up Connors chest before pinching the boys nose closed. Within seconds Connor awoke gasping for breath. "Whats going on," he asked groggily.
"Hi," Spark smiled. Connor blinked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he tried to focus on the tiny nude in front of him. "Spark," he asked. "Whats going on? What time is it?"
"11:50," she said. "The ball is about to drop. Wanted to see if you wanted to ring in the new year with me."
"Um sure," Connor said slowly. "Where are my folks though?"
"They were binge watching some karate show on Netflix before your mom fell asleep on the couch," Spark stated. "Now your dad and Daphne are cleaning up the kitchen."
Connor nodded, gazing at the fairy as she beamed at him with a wide smile. "So what have you been up to," he asked. "I figured you would be relaxing since Caleb gave you the night off."
"Eh I got bored," Spark shrugged. "Besides I figured you'd like to see the ball drop."
"Well yeah," Connor said quickly. "I mean I was going to but um fell asleep watching t.v."
"And that's why I woke you up," Spark grinned. The fairy now flew out of the room, returning quickly with a glass. "Little help? This is kinda heavy."
Connor scrambled out of the bed, grabbing the glass as Spark now flew out of the room once more, returning with a smaller glass sized for her. "What is this," he asked.
"Sparkling cider," Spark stated. "Usually you drink champagne when the ball drops but I'm pretty sure your old man would kill me if I gave you booze."
"Probably," Connor chuckled. The preteen now gripped the glass as Spark flew to the boys shoulder, nuzzling up against him. "So whats the occasion Spark? Any reason you wanted to spend New Years with me?"
Spark fidgeted as the two now watched a crowd begin counting down. "Well," she said softly. "You spend New Years with the people you care about. And I, um, care about you Connor."
Connor smirked, chancing a glance at the tiny green fairy on his shoulder. Spark appeared to be blushing, the fairy having pulled her her knees to her chest as she shyly looked up at the preteen. "I care about you too Spark," he smiled. "Glad to spend the New Year with you."
"Well your welcome," the tiny nude replied confidently. "I mean who wouldn't want to hangout with me. I'm awesome!"
"Can't deny that," Connor laughed.
"But um I have noticed something recently," Spark blushed nervously.
"What?"
"Okay this is gonna sound crazy," Spark said. "But, I think I'm changing."
"How so?"
"Well," Spark said nervously. "I think I'm starting to look younger and my boobs seem a bit smaller too."
Connor raised an eyebrow, studying the tiny nude as she hefted up her breasts. "I um can't tell for sure Spark," he stammered. "Um why would that happen?"
"Because," Spark blushed. "I'm uh...falling in love with you."
"Oh," Connor said softly, the preteen blushing. "Um why would that affect how you look?"
"When a fairy starts to develop a deep emotional bond with someone they begin to take on their physical characteristics. We match up with them in order to be a better partner," she said.
"So why wouldn't you take on Caleb or even Dads characteristics?"
"Your brother and your dad are friends," she said. "My partners, family, coworkers, you get the idea. You though, well, its different. I...I...really, really like you and its affecting me physically."
"Sorry."
"Not your fault," Spark smirked. "You can't help being cute."
"Has this ever happened to you before Spark?"
"Nope," Spark shrugged. "This is a first for me. Its weird, but like a good weird. If that makes sense. Still, its a little freaky. I mean I think I'm aging down to match you." Spark sighed, flashing an impish grin as she looked at Connor.
"You couldn't have been Eighteen," she grinned. "Or even Sixteen! You had to be twelve huh?".
"Sorry," Connor replied meekly. "But if it helps I turn 13 in a few monthes."
"Eh that helps," Spark shrugged. "And hey if I'm gonna lose my adulthood I would definitely choose you."
"Thanks I think," Connor whispered. "So um does this change anything for you? I mean, your not going to have to go back to fairy school or live with your fairy parents again will you?"
"Hell no," Spark laughed. "No, fairies recognize that these things happen from time to time. Nothing changes, I'm still pledged to help your brother and family with their work. I'll just look and feel a bit younger is all."
As the couple now watched the ball begin to fall, they glanced at one another, Spark giving the preteen a warm smile as she now stood on tip toe to give Connor a kiss.
"Happy New Year Connor."
"Happy New Year Spark," he smiled, taking a sip of his sparkling cider. "Glad I got to watch the year start with you."
