Across the sea of books which lay before you, one caught and scratched your finger. You pulled your arm away suddenly and held up the scratched hand to the light. It wasn’t a deep cut. Blood creeped out from the miniscule wound, not enough to keep your attention any longer. Rather, you drew your attention back to the book which caused this. A large tome lightly sparkled in your blood, which was made up of what you could only describe as scales. Particularly on the spine, where you cut yourself, there was claws seemingly attached to this book.
The book takes a while to release it’s hold from the shelf, as you pull it out. Eventually though with some nudging, it relinquishes the hold and falls down under your arm. Sitting down with the book, you open the first page and skim through the tome. Although this was much harder than anticipated since the pages felt like they’d dissolve into dust at the slightest touch. Nevertheless, you carefully peered through the pages and was entranced by what you saw.
The pages were garnished in exquisite images of draconic beings of every ilk. From your typical dragons who guarded troves of treasure. The drakes, a derivate of dragons but seemingly different, although the book isn’t clear about this. Wyrms, exceedingly large snake-like creatures that appeared to inhabit burrows and ancient cave systems. To wyverns, which are known to only appear during thunderstorms. Time seems to slip away as you continue pouring yourself into this book.
Thunder awakes you. The book falls from your lap losing it’s comfortable balance while you’d been sleeping on the library sofa.
“How long have I been asleep for?” You grumble, washing your eyes over. Going to stand up, you suddenly succumb to a myriad of pain inside your head.
