The Magic Shop

Laura tries to reconcile with Kaitlin

added by Dellinger A year ago AR

It was a very tense 2 hours, not at all what Laura expected when she "accidentally" droped her friend's die.

While Laura felt increasingly guilty for what she had just done, which was as immature as her current age, Kaitlin was red with anger. She had been kind enough to accompany her co-worker who had become a true friend, and this is what she gets in return? Okay, she had been a little hard on her when she treated her like a child, but it was for her own good and she didn't know her friend was so sensitive... Still, Laura's action had made her very angry.

There was only about an hour and a half left before they arrived at the magic store and it was getting late.

"Grblbl"

Kaitlin looked in the direction of the noise.

"Oh sorry it's my stomach that's crying out, what do you say we stop and break bread?" Laura asked, trying to get off to a good start by adopting a gentle tone.

Kaitlin kept the same serious look she had along the way and answered
"The magic store is still several dozen miles away Laura, I don't think that's a good ide-

"Grblbl"

Kaitlin's stomach rumbled in turn which brought a smile to both young women, including the older and more serious Kaitlin.

"Look Kaitlin, I am well aware that I shouldn't have done that, really, I was as stupid as a little girl in elementary school and I am very sorry, so please forgive me and let's be friends again and get these dice back to where they came from, okay?"

Kaitlin sighed.

"Hmm...I accept your apology...brat."

Laura giggled at her friend's joke and they exchanged a look that meant nothing more than friendship.

"Grblbb"

The stomachs of both women began to groan again, Laura instinctively placed her hands on her stomach as if to silence him and made surprise at the contact.

"Holy cow, not to brag I didn't remember having such a flat stomach."

In fact, Laura was so focused on thinking about her actions and her situation with Kaitlin that she hadn't even tried to examine her body, and although it was very different from the one she would have twenty years later, it was hers.

Laura ran her hands through her brown hair, it was so different to the touch, so fresh, so young.
She rolled up the sleeves of her now loose-fitting shirt and ran her hands over her arms, her skin was so smooth.
Then she glanced at the rearview mirror and observed her face. No more wrinkles and flawless skin despite the fact that her face did not have the maturity of a woman in her thirties.

"Are you having fun?" Kaitlin said, which startled Laura a little.

"I just hadn't bothered to take stock of the changes in my body...and it's pretty positive I'd say although I'm now too young to work at the office and I m in a very dangerous situation , I mean, I really don’t want to go back in my teens" Laura said, her hands firmly holding the box.

"Well at least I would have a good reason to treat you like a child" Kaitlin said with a grimace.

"Well come on, let's take a break" Kaitlin said as she headed for the highway rest stop.

"Ah finally, I'm starving" said Laura.

Laura was happy that the situation had been resolved and Kaitlin was too in a way, although she had not forgotten what had happened earlier.
