Taking a walk with your new stepmother in the woods was a little odd but not too odd but she and your father had taken multiple walks in the woods while dating. They both enjoyed the outdoors, being in the woods and seeing nature, your late mother had done the same thing with your father and you multiple times. You are not as big of an outdoor fan as your parents or your new stepmother, but you enjoy a good hike or now a walk in the woods every so often. It was getting a little late for a walk, with the setting sun but it isn’t too bad.
There is a large park behind your very house and all you have to do to get to one of the walking path is walk out the back gate and walk down an unofficial path for about 10ft to the official path. So no driving was needed as you and your step mother stepped onto the gravel path and began to walk among the woods.
“You know I was nervous when I first found out that your father had you.” Explained Christian “I never thought I would be a mother to a teenager…”
You shot daggers at her for a second, she was your stepmother not your mother, no one would replace her.
“But the more I thought about it I am not your mother; I would be overstepping myself to take that role. Even though she has left this world and rejoined nature her motherly spirit can never be replaced in your heart.” Stated Christian as some anger left you, at least she understood she would never be your mother. She could fill a strong parental role model but she would never be his mom. “I want you to know, that while I will not be your mother, I hope you understand that I love your father and you with all my heart and I hope to take up some of the role of a mother to you, if you allow that.”
“I thank you for that.” You said as you two journeyed deeper into the forest. There where lights on the path every so often and they clicked on with the coming nightfall. “I am glad you aren’t trying to force me to call you mom and I will respect you as long as you show me respect as well. I am a high schooler not some little kid.”
“Of course.” Said Christian as you raise an eyebrow, did she seam taller then normal or was she just leaping a bit for joy. “You are a young adult buck, not a foul needing to be protected all the time.”
That was a strange thing to say but Christian had always been a little strange, she didn’t follow any real religion instead worshiping nature which while odd wasn’t unheard of either.
“What did you want to show me?” you inquire
“Well Vinnie.” Said Christian as she came to a stop near some large clump of trees. Her eyes scanned around, and she sniffed the air for a moment. “See I have been keeping a secret from you…I am not human.”
You just blink before laughing a bit.
“Nice joke, what are you an alien?” you inquired with a laugh and a roll of the eye.
“No, not an alien.” Laughed Christian as she sat down on a stump which was located beside the path. “I am a type of magical creature that like all magical creatures went into hiding long ago. We come to the home world every so often to find love, just like I did with your father.”
“Right.” You said crossing your arms over your chest.
“I knew I had to show you, just don’t scream ok.” Said Christian as she reached for a necklace which she always wore. You gave conformation and as she touched the necklace you wish you hadn’t given your word not to scream. Still, you wouldn’t be sure you could scream, your mouth refused to work and you were frozen in place.
Your new stepmother began to change, her legs began to bend in unnatural ways as they became covered with snow white fur with black dots in some areas. She always wore shorts but the fur went under her shorts which twisted with the change as well. She had kicked off her sandals as her feet darkened and became hooves. Her massive bust became a little more prominent as her waist also thinned a bit. You heard bones popping as she seamed to grow a little taller, her arms grew longer as well but remained for the most part the same. Her face changed a bit as a deer like nose replaced her normal one, her long black hair turned snow white as long impossibly long pointy ears came out of the hair line. Then with more cracking a pair of small deer like antlers grew out of the top of her head coming to 6 points.
“See I am not lying.” Said Christian with almost the same playful grin she had given you multiple times before.
“What…what are you?” you stammer out.
“The Greeks called us Satyrs, the romans Fauns so we answer to either. We are protectors of the woods and nature.” Answered Christian
