Now she had a very definite reason to check out the temple, and find out who stole her medallion...
Alisa strode confidently to the inn's expansive reception area. She had quickly determined that the only people who could have stolen her medallion, if she had not misplaced it, were the chambermaids previously in her room. Alisa's chain of logic ran into one problem; she could not remember a moment when either of the girls had the time to take something from her clothes.
The old wood counter was tall enough, despite her new 6' height, to keep her from seeing the seated inn keeper until she had fully approached. Alisa's nostrils flared slightly from impatience as the innkeeper casually looked up from his book.
"How can I help you, ma'm?" The innkeeper smiled lazily as he shifted his seat towards Alisa.
"Are the chambermaids you sent to my room still here?"
"Oh, no ma'am, they only worked a half day today," the innkeeper furrowed his thick eyebrows, "Is something wrong?"
Alisa smiled, wanting to avoid official conflict without real proof. "No, no. I simply forgot to tip them."
"No need for that ma'am. Tips go automatically on your tab," the innkeeper replied with a big toothed smile like he had thought of something funny. "Do you need anything else?"
Alisa cocked her head. "Um, yes. Could you tell me how to get to the temple of Artemis."
The innkeeper stood up from his chair. His thick frame loomed a good five inches over Alisa. His short sleeved v-necked tunic allowed thick hair to burl out from his chest and arms.
"Sure, dear. Take your first left over four blocks to our main street, then turn right and head up another five. The temple is our most popular attraction, but most people don't stay long enough to have the full experience."
