Almost as soon as the police officer and the doctor had left the house, locking the door behind them with what sounded like a chain and a pad lock all 12 of the college students who where now locked within whipped out their phones. Some went to social media to see what was going on, some sent texts out to friends and family informing them and asking for information while others went to search for signs of the animal transformation virus.
“This is bad, my friend Stacy says the hospital has 14 cases of people transforming into animals in the past 12 hours and the CDC is coming in, they are talking full lock down of the city.” stated Barbara as everyone looked at her. “Her mother is a nurse.”
“That makes sense, they have isolation rooms at the hospital.” stated Britney, she was studying to go into med school to become a doctor. “If the isolation rooms are full, they would want to have people isolate at home.”
“I knew I should have gone home this weekend and just let you have your stupid party.” cursed Jessica as she and her boyfriend Ryan sat apart from the rest of them. Those two had come over near the end of the party that the rest of them had thrown, they had eaten some and drank more before going to Jessica’s bedroom. While the rest of the house where all friends, those two where not friends with anyone.
“Whose knows you could have been the one who came into contact with an infected person, and you are the reason why we are stuck in here.” countered Lindsay
“Nah, it has to be one of you losers flat chest.” Stated Jessica with a smirk as she put Lindsay down for her small breasts like she always did. Even though she didn’t even have largest breasts in the house, that belonged to the very well endowed Barbara she always claimed she had the best overall body. Oscar moved in to do something only to have Lindsay block him and told him without words that it wasn’t worth it even if it would have been so nice to clear the grin from Jessica and Ryan’s faces.
“None of that matters, what matters is that we deal with the issues at hand.” Stated Howard in the ever-calm voice he seamed to have. “I have looked up the signs of infection, they include muscle aches, pain in the joints, dry mouth and depending on the species you are becoming you can either be cold or hot.”
“What does that mean?” inquired his girlfriend Samantha
“If you are becoming something with fur, the fur growing in came make you hot while scales means you are becoming a reptile and you lose your ability to manage body temp like they do so you may get cold.” explained Howard.
“That makes sense.” confirmed Jenny as her boyfriend James nodded his head.
“If I can recommend, we isolate ourselves as best as possible.” stated James
“12 people, 5 bedrooms, 3 baths isolating will be hard.” stated Katie
“Maybe not as hard, every couple apart from Britney have their own room.” stated Arryn her short black hair framing her dark eyes “That would be 9 people right there. Lindsay and Oscar, Jen and James, Jessica and Ryan, myself and Barbara, with Britney in her own room.”
“Which leaves Katie, Sam and Howard to isolate themselves in either the living room, study or the unfinished basement.” stated Barbara “If only one of us is infected maybe we can keep it from spreading.”
“Sounds like a plan the less I have to see you losers the better.” stated Ryan as he and Jessica stood up and headed to their downstairs bedroom.
“We better all head to our rooms.” Stated Lindsay
“I’ll set up a group chat so we can organize who needs to go to the bathroom or kitchen so we avoid each other.” stated Jenny
“We better all check ourselves for signs of transformation when we get to our room.” Stated James
“Good idea.” Confirmed Barbara as she stood up. “Good luck.”
“Same to you.” Said almost everyone else, all of them knowing that it was possible this was the last time they would all be together as humans.
It wouldn’t take long until they would learn who if anyone was infected.
