"Tom," Hannah squeaked. Her vocals were slightly feline, and her nervousness wasn't helping control them better. "Let's do it. Whatever happens, we're in it together.
Tom nodded up at the catgirl. "Hannah."
The centaur staggered, feeling pulled toward Hannah by an unseen force. He dragged his hooves across the board, but did not succeed in resisting the magnetic pull. He finally came to a rest directly in front of Hannah's legs. He saw the massive figure of his friend begin to stand, startled by Tom's proximity. Before Hannah could get a firm balance on two legs, Tom's body shot up. As he gained mass and height, Hannah was lurched up onto his back. The centaur now stood at his normal height, with Hannah riding cowboy. Once he stopped growing, Tom felt a strange warmth on his back. It wasn't from Hannah...it was actually a warmth WITHIN him.
Hannah shouted a cat-like shriek as she watched her legs melt into Tom's equine body. Tom's head shot around and strained its neck to discover the source of the warmth he was feeling. Hannah's body was attached to his. Her upper body was unchanged, but she disappeared into Tom's back at her waist.
"Well, you sure got that height back," Terry observed. "Counting from Tom's hooves to Hannah's head, you're a good eight feet!"
"This is kinda fun," Hannah giggled as she played with the long mane atop Tom's head.
Continuing with his original roll of ten, Terry examined the board. "Excellent," he said. "I can get the key if I take Tom's path."
"Hannah and Sue's path has a blue space, though," Dave pointed out. "And it looks like Sue is going to win, anyway. Why don't you try changing one of us back before it's over, just in case?"
Terry could tell from Dave's expression that he wanted to get his human form back as soon as possible. However, because he rolled doubles, he could easily pick up the key, and on his next roll make it through the locked door and--if he was lucky enough--get all the way to the lamp.
