The process is explained to the three of you, before each of you are given a shot - the psychoactive drug - and linked up to the machine. You feel your body relax as you sink into a weird, slightly altered state of consciousness, and your consciousness is transported into the virtual reality. A blank, dark, empty void. You feel yourself starting to drift off to sleep.
Suddenly, you're jolted awake as a myriad of pinpricks appear in the distance. You feel yourself zoom towards them, a feeling of vertigo making your stomach almost turn.
When your stomach calms down, you look around. The void is filled with faceless figures, of all shapes and sizes. Almost mannequin-like, but with shimmering skin in different skin tones. As you watch, you notice a few of the figures start to fade away, while others start to shift subtly, skin tones lightening or darkening, growing a little taller or shorter, aging or de-aging.
