Thomas was a 23 year old drop out trying to find a way through this world. Unfortunately the only way at the moment was working at a local Sam's Club. He had walked into this shop for no particular reason but when he found the remote an idea had fostered in his head. He picked it up and walked over to a register where an aged sliver of a man was leaning, and placed the remote on the counter.
"So is this universal? Or just for specific brands." Thomas sighed.
"One could say universal. Have you read the description young one?" The shriveled ghostly gentleman smiled.
"Yeah but I don't really get what they mean by 'transform' its just a TV remote right?"
"Oh its that and so much more. Here, try the remote out and if you find you really like it? Come back and pay, if not then no charge. Deal?" The man's smile widened.
"Uhhh... I mean, I won't say no to free stuff so sure, you've got a deal old man." Thomas reached his hand out and the two shook on it. He looked at his phone and jumped when he saw the time. "Oh shit I'm late for work! Thanks again, have a good day sir!"
"And you young one." Thomas heard him muse as he ran through the door. Thomas tossed the remote into his jacket pocket, headed to his car, and sped off to work, barely clocking in on time. He headed over to membership which surprisingly didn't have a line.
"Look at you, on time for one." A short curly haired red head chuckled at Tom
as he walked into the kiosk.
"Give me some credit, I'm not a complete loser Emily. Besides I don't want you to write me up, couldn't give you the satisfaction."
"Damn, am I not allowed to be happy Tom?" Emily smirked. She pulled her small form back and placed her hands on her chunky hips
"Not at my expense, no."
The store was dead, not many people in his department. Membership was right across from the televisions, so Tom pulled out the remote. "Check it out, just bought this for times like these." With a flix of a button Tom changed the setting on the TV from advertisements, to reruns of a random sitcom. "Pretty cool huh? Now I can change the channel and management will be none the wiser."
"None the wiser? You literally just told a shift lead." Emily retorted. " Im gonna pretend like I didn't see that."
"Sure suit yourself." Tom kept the remote tucked in his jacket. As he watched the show he saw a young blonde girl, maybe age 8 run up to her dad and tell him about her day. He pressed what he figured was the volume up button a couple times but something crazy happened. Tom watched on as the little girl in the show became taller, older even. By the time he stopped pushing the up button she had to be in her twenties. Her whole demeanor had changed, and now she called the man in the show "daddy" in a much more sexual context, displaying her newpy minted cleavage to the blushing gentleman. "What the hell... Emily did you see-" As Tom turned to face Emily she was busy taking to a member and a line had already started.
How did this happen? Did the remote do that? Or was it just a weird show?
Tom needed to know. He needed to check if this remote changed people but who would he test it on?
