It wasn't just in Lyre/Animalia that Mardi Gras was celebrated. It was also celebrated in Animalia's colonies, though how different they were depended on the religious beliefs of where it took place.
---
One of the best examples was from Heiya Island. While there was a Christian church or two on the island, the major percentage of religion was more focused on either Shintoism or Buddhism, which I don't know if they have something similar to Lent/Easter. However, since it was a multicultural thing, everyone was able to enjoy it. The Quasi-Raccoon Cuties did their own coverage of the events, which seemed to show how almost everyone who wasn't a Christian was in cultural shock, which can be amusing in some cases.

Another great example came from Maelewano. While Christianity was overall dominant, it was more in line with the Ethiopian Orthodox church, which had its own unique flavor. What made it so different was that it had developed in a different way due to being "cut off" from the outside, so to speak. So that while Christianity was practiced, many of the traditions were more in line with Judaism rather than mainstream Christianity.
Because of this, Mardi Gras in Maelewano was truly something unique to see. While there was a parade/procession, there weren't as many beads being thrown about, for example, causing it to seem "calmer" compared to other Mardi Gras celebrations.
