It's the start of the spring semester of my freshman year in college, and today is the first day of classes. Unfortunately, most of them are boring gen-ed classes which I have zero interest in. And to make it all the worse, my first class is in the first time slot of the day, while the rest of them take place in the afternoon with an hour gap between each of them. It is like the school was intentionally messing with me to give me the worst class schedule possible or something.
I sleepily enter the lecture hall for the first class of the day. "8am is way too early for such a boring ethics class. I mean, how can a class called 'Ethics in Perspective' possibly be interesting? It sure sounds like a boring class to me. At least I may be able to sleep a bit more if I sit near the back" I think to myself as I take my seat in the back row.
For such a dull class, there actually seems to be quite a crowd comming into the room. And soon there are hardly any seats left unclaimed save for those in the furthest few rows in back. Basically around where I and just a few others are sleepily sitting.
As the bell rings, signaling the start of class, the professor walks in and heads directly for the podium. The youngish looking man looks to be around 25-30ish years old and fairly attractive. "I guess maybe he's why there are so many girls taking this class," I think as I lay my chin down on my bag which I had placed on top of the desk to use as a makeshift pillow.
Then the Professor says something that immediately gets my attention. "Alright class. I want to thank you all for volunteering to be test subjects for the semester. I am sure you all are eager to get to the excitement, so I will not waste your time with pointless introductions and just move right into the experiment."
My mind begins racing as I try to comprehend what I just heard. 'Experiment? What experiment? Why am I only no hearing about there being a semester long experiment?'
But before I could even ask what he was talking about, the Professor stepped down from the podium and exited the stage through the left wing. Everyone in the class began talking as a feeling of confusion washed over the entire lecture hall. 'At least it seems I am not the only one confused by the announcement of the experiment' I think while feeling relieved that it isn't just me who is confused by the announcement.
A few moments later, the Professor walks back in wearing a respirator and a multi-colored gas begins pouring out from the room's ventilation system.
"Do not panic, just stay calm and let the experiment do its job. It is crucial you do not do anything to interfere with this process, as if anyone does, then they will immediately fail the class. In other words, your ability to pass this class is wholly reliant on your participation in this assignment" says the Professor rather loudly. Sure enough, that did the job as no one dared fail the entire class on the very first day of the semester.
As the gas spreads throughout the room, and every student begins inhaling it, the Professor continues his speech by explaining the nature of the experiment. "This experiment will test you all to see how you will react in a new form. In a few moments, all of you will begin to undergo a metamorphosis, turning you all into....
