CYOTF (New)

Testing out her new attack

Having not hit anything with her sword, even as it should have made contact several times by now, could only mean one thing. This thing was a demon with physical damage immunity. A demon called a demon wraith. While rare, these demon wraiths are the bane of anyone who cannot use magic. And though they typically tend to use illusion magic to deceive their target's minds, making them an easy kill, it isn't like they are completely harmless either if that plan fails.

These demons were pretty weak to magic though. A trade-off for their total immunity to physical attacks. Even a beginner level offensive spell could possibly kill the strongest of their kind with relative ease if it lamded, as just by comming into contact with magical energy outside of their own would cause their body to rupture and break down into nothingness. But they were fast, and hard to hit on top of their strong illusion magic.

The problem is that not many have magical abilities. In terms of dungeon divers, maybe a 1 person in a party of 5 could use any level of magic. And Liare was part of the 80% of people who couldn't use magic. Wait....

Laire stopped her chase for a second and sheathed her sword as it was useless to continue swinging it around. Instead, she took a deep breath and focused on the demon who was waiting just a few meters away for her to do something while it prepared an attack of its own. But before the demon could use it, a beam of pure electrical energy shot out from Laire's mouth. It then arced towards the demon and hit it in less than a millisecond from being fired.

The demon was instantly killed, and their lifeless body flew up into the air as static covered it and arced to the walls of the dungeon. And then the body finally disintegrated from the pure amount of electricity coursing through it caused it to broken down on the molecular level, just like it had done earlier to Laire's own tongue.

Seeing as the target was gone, Laire ended her breath attack, feeling extremely satisfied with its usefulness. And nothing on her disintegrated this time too! Laire celebrated her victory for a minute as the rest of her adrenaline high wore down.

This demon would have more than likely been the end for her, as she normally would have no means to attack it with. But now that was no longer the case. Sure, it wasn't exactly magic, but lightning isn't physical damage either. It was an elemental attack, which only the creatures in the world that naturally used the same element were resistant to. And only the lightning wyvern was known to use this level of lightning elemental attacks on top of that.

If she really thought about it, was there anything besides a lightning wyvern that she couldn't kill with her breath attack? She doubted it, and the only thing that she knew could block it besides the wyvern, was the special golem the kingdom's magicians had invented. It functioned as a lightning rod in order to protect the castle from being struck by lightning durring thunder storms. But that golem was a one time use and was always destroyed by the excess energy after it was struck.

So with her now possessing one of the strongest, if not the pinnacle of all offensive attacks, she was feeling pretty good right now. So good that she almost forgot to collect her prize for defeating the enemy.

With a chuckle, she calmed down and went over to inspect the area where the demon had disintegrated. To her surprise, instead of finding nothing like she had planned on, on the ground was a squishy sphere shaped thing. It was about the size of a kidney and was grayish purple in color. Laire recognized it right away. The incredibly rare drop from killing this specific kind of demon. It was an organ which incident, could nullify most minor magical attacks. Why such a thing dropped from a creature with no magical resistance whatsoever was a long standing mystery, but now wasn't the time to ponder the strange ways in which the world functioned.

Though she was hesitant to do it, it was technically a body part. And it was extremely beneficial to have that effect. So, with reluctance, laire pulled off her left gauntlet and used a talon to jab a hole into the side of her torso. She shoved the organ inside of it, then used so.e of the extra wyvern scales she cad collected to patch herself up.

It certainly hurt like a bitch, but she could feel herself integrate with the organ. Soon, that organ was just another part of her body, and now granted her minor magical immunity. Any magic considered to be an intermediate level spell and below now would no longer pose a threat to her. Granted, she could never use those first 2 tiers of magic either now, but since she never could to begin with, that downside was of no concern for her.

With her body all "healed" and now even further upgraded, Laire continued throughout the remainder of the floor with relative ease now that most of the weaker demon wraiths could no longer use their illusion magic on her. When she reached the floor's boss room, she was excited for once and didn't waste time in entering the room to challenge them.

What will she be facing up against?
