After Darren's teachers discovered his secret he felt an emergency meeting with his friends was necessary. With Darren's parents gone for the day, the group of teens now found themselves in his living room.
"Wait how did they even figure it out Darren," Crystal asked. Darren shrugged, blushing slightly as he gazed at the pretty teen. If you had told him at the beginning of the year that Crystal would be hanging out at his house on a Sunday afternoon, he would have thought you were crazy.
"Well they are geniuses," Robbie stated. "I mean aren't they smart enough to figure it out?"
"Smarter than I think any of us thought," Misaki said. The Asian teen now turned to Darren, a worried look on her face. "They know about the rest of us too, because of me."
"Hey this wasn't your fault Misaki," Hannah exclaimed. "If anything its the kits the fault. The kids are just too honest."
"Is that really a bad thing though," Crystal asked. "I mean from what you've said they're gods. I don't know about you guys but I'd rather have them be too honest."
Darren and the others nodded in agreement. Everyone had been shocked to discover the nature of Raiden and Sachiko. Darren himself couldn't believe it. He had created two celestial beings useing his rings. As shocked as he was, it was nothing compared to the shock of their parents or Yuriko.
"So how did their parents take the news," Crystal asked.
"And Ms. Yuriko," Robbie added.
Darren sighed, they had all been shocked to learn of the kits nature. The kits parents were shocked, their kitsune fathers brimming with pride. Akira and Fukushu understood that their children would eventually lead their people and it was their job to protect them until they were old enough to assume leadership. Yuriko for her part was a mix between shock, happiness, and apprehension
"Yeah Yuriko is still coming tobterms with it," Darren said. "Especially if it means Fukushu and Abolith are going to be staying there."
"I'm still shocked she agreed to it," Hannah mumbled.
"I'm not," Misaki stated. "Granny Aiko always told me how much Yuriko cares about the kitsune. True, she's been at odds with those two her entire life but after talking with Shizen she agreed."
"With conditions I'm sure," Crystal said. Darren nodded, Yuriko may be willing to take the kits in but she still had reservations about Fukushu and Abolith. Darren had learned that for the foreseeable future the Dragons, Tanuki, and Faities would be watching her home carefully.
"So Darren," Misaki grinned. "Hows it feel to be a Godmaker?"
"I wouldn't all myself a Godmaker," he blushed. Hannah scoffed, the teenage gunoid raising an eyebrow. "Oh please stop being so modest. Take the compliment, besides you made the Soul Drives."
"Please tell me your not calling yourself a God Hannah," Robbie moaned. Hannah simply smirked, smoothing out her green fur as she held her monkey head high. "You said it not me."
"Well you have a God like ego Hannah," Crystal teased causing the others to laugh. "Speaking of Soul Drives, where's Steph?"
"She went to the diner," Darren said. "Said she was going to catch up with Ruby and Sapphire." As the others now began to talk, Darren glanced out the window.
It amazed the teenage boy that over the course of the school year how comfortable he had become with his role as the Catalyst. He had helped create not only two new celestial kitsune but also an ever increasing amount of Soul Drives. Soul Drives who were making things easier by for everybody. Still, Darren felt he could do more.
For Darren's town it was bulk pick up season. People had begun dragging large items to the curb for the city to town to pick up. Darren now noticed two men driving a truck down the street, removing the items everyone had left out. As a man in his 50s now exited the truck, Darren watched as he struggled to hoist a rather large couch.
A smile spread across Darren's face as his rings began to glow. The teen watched as the man froze in place, his skin transforming into plastic as his clothing disappeared. The now plastic man stood in street, Darren noticing his body was devoid of any hair being completely androgynous.
Now Darren began to mold his body. Slowly he watched as dark brown fur began to cover his body, forming into the shape of a pair of shorts with a sleeveless tshirt. As that was happening Darren watched as his body grew taller and wider, taking on the appearance of a thickly built human. Darren now added the finishing touches to his newest Soul Drive, watchingbas the man's head began to twist, shaping into a massive bull head complete with horns. As the changes completed, Darren watched as the bull Soul Drive shook his massive head before easily lifting the couch.
"Whatcha looking at Darren," Hannah asked, the teenage Soul Drive now peering into the street. "Oh its Brutus." Hannah now waved towards the bull Soul Drive, unable to get his attention.
"Man I swear he's focused on work even for a Soul Drive," she chuckled. "Only thing he seems to focus on more is when he's powerlifting at the gym. Believe it or not he actually benched over a 1000 lbs. 1000! I didn't think it was possible."
Darren could only nod, watching as his latest creation continued to work. He may not have been comfortable with the nickname of Godmaker but he was certainly helping to make a difference.
