Carmen groaned as she saw Brad enter the party.
Every year, Carmen’s friends hosted a party during the Wave of Light. It originally started out small, but once Carmen graduated from high school, the yearly party grew massive. Because of this, the party attracted people like Brad, who wouldn’t normally hang out with Carmen.
“Hey Carmen!” Brad shouted, waving at her. He gave her a grin. Carmen sighed.
Brad was a 19 year old man who graduated a year after Carmen did. He wasn’t particularly handsome, but he certainly believed he was. He was known to act creepy around other girls, saying inappropriate things to them.
Carmen tried to ignore Brad, but he walked up to her.
“Why are you dressed so… boring. All the other girls are looking sexy. I bet you they are-” Brad said to her before being interrupted.
“Leave me alone. I’m not interested in talking to you,” Carmen said.
Brad shrugged. “Sheesh. I was just trying to start a conversation. You’ll never find a boyfriend with an attitude like that.”
Carmen’s face grew red. “I told you to leave me alone!”
“Ok… ok…. Sheesh.”
Suddenly, someone shouted, “hey look, the Wave of Light is coming already! It’s early this year!”
Sure enough, the wave was quickly approaching. Carmen and Brad flinched, waiting for the wave to pass by.
