The scenery shifted to resemble Amy’s former high school.
“In the original story, an 18 year old girl named Amy so desperately wanted to go to prom with the boy of her dreams. She lived in a house with her evil stepbrother, Thomas,” Amy’s voice said.
I rolled my eyes at the mention of being an “evil stepbrother.” As she talked, I could see past events happen around me. I tried interacting with a person, but my hand went right through his body.
“She did everything she could to catch the eyes of her Prince Charming. But nonetheless, he ignored her, asked someone else, and became prom king. Meanwhile, Amy was never asked. She went alone. And it seemed like nobody even liked her dress,” Amy narrated.
I could see the events of her crush asking out a different girl play right in front of me. I then saw the dance itself, as he was announced as prom king.
Was she doing all of this because she was jealous about prom?
“Amy, it was high school. It doesn’t matter. You were an adult then and you’re an adult now, you should act like it,” I told her.
“Ahem! Meanwhile, her wicked stepbrother got both the attention of her mom and his dad. He was wrongfully seen as perfect, the favorite of the family. For his prom that same year, not only did HE get with the girl he wanted, but HE ended up as prom king and got his happily ever after!”
This was ridiculous. I had nothing to do with her having a bad time at prom. We didn’t even go to the same school.
I saw the events of my prom play out. I saw myself get crowned king and saw myself having fun.
“But! Amy was later granted a unique power. What if she could go back and give herself the happily ever after she deserves!” Amy shouted.
The scenery shifts to Amy at home, preparing for prom.
“In this new story, a kind fairy godmother revealed herself to Amy,” Amy narrated.
The modern version of Amy descended from above, with a wand in hand and wings on her back. She phased right through the ceiling.
“I am your fairy godmother, Amy. I am here to make your dreams come true!” Fairy Godmother Amy told past Amy.
“You are? I don’t believe it!” past Amy exclaimed.
“If you didn’t believe it, I wouldn’t be here. Now, let’s get you ready for this ball!” Fairy Godmother Amy said.
I was really creeped out. I had no idea why she was showing me this.
