The closet she had was full of many wonders, well, things that would be considered wonders by some, experiments of a mad woman by another. She quite enjoyed searching through the numerous cabinets and shelves inside just to see if she had anything interesting. That’s when she noticed an old package on one of her more cluttered shelves, peeking out from under a rubber ball covered in bite marks.
Bethany pulled a case of red darts, which were unlabeled, though that was absolutely on purpose, onto the front of the shelf they sat on. They were meant to be used like a roulette game, and she was going to do just that.
Playing with sharp objects was never the smart way to go, but it was a way most certainly. She took the darts down, and opened the case, and took the darts over to a large machine, which she then loaded them into.
Once it was finished, she spun them quickly, mixing them up. “Well, this is either going to go well, or it’ll be terrible.” She stares at the machine, then pressing a button.
This causes one of the darts to slide forward, as a mechanical whir begins, and a small arm slowly moves forward. Bethany moves her arm in place, wincing as the needle part of the dart jabs into her, though it left no mark once it pulled out.
After a second, however…
“Agh, I don’t know if that was even a good idea…”
What effect could possibly have befell her? And how would that affect further research?
