I ran into the nearest store, not having the time to decide where the best place to hide would be. After stepping in, I realized that I was in some sort of costume store. I saw costumes for superheroes, princesses, animals, monsters, and even fairies.
There wasn’t enough space by the costumes themselves to hide, so I went into the changing rooms. The door was quickly locked, and I tried to breathe calmly and slowly so that nobody could hear me.
I started to hear some movement, such as what sounded like wings flapping or dainty footsteps. The sounds got closer, and my heart started racing. I hoped that I could just keep myself quiet enough so that the fairy wouldn’t find me.
I could hear the fairy walk into the store, looking at different spots. It seemed like I was starting to have a panic attack. Maybe this costume shop wasn’t the best place to hide. There were so many stores…
“Aha!” The fairy shouted.
With a wave of her wand, I saw the door disappear from existence.
“Well, look at what we have here,” she said.
She was 3 feet tall, with long hair, and looked like a young adult. Her smile looked innocent, but I knew that I was in trouble.
