Will and Megan both ignored the Chronivac, preferring to hold each other close. However, that was soon to change.
"Ow," said Megan quietly.
"Did I do something?" said Will.
"My arms..." said Megan. "They- they-" she suddenly let out a high-pitched agonised scream. Will looked closely and stared in horror as her arms fell off before his eyes.
"Megan?" said Will. "What the..."
"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME?" screeched Megan, thrashing wildly.
Will stared as her legs glowed and then tore off her body as well, acommpanied by more moans.
"My arms," said Megan weakly. "They feel different... the Chronivac didn't, did it?"
They had selected the option in jest, but now, as Will stared at Megan's neatly severed limbs, he had to admit that this must be true; the Chronivac had really worked. "How?" he said, more to himself than to Megan.
Nonetheless, Megan replied. "That thing must have done it..." She tried to sit up, but then realised that she couldn't. "Will... why can't I move my arms?"
"It really worked," said Will, still ignoring her. "This thing is dangerous... we have to des-"
"DON'T!" yelled Megan, snapping Will out of his stupor. "If you break that thing, what happens to me?"
Will looked at Megan again and realisation swept over him, as well as a bleak horror as to the impossibility of what had happened.
"I'll change you back right away," he said, turning to the Chronivac, keying in what he hoped were the correct adjustments. "I hope..."
