As the new work week began, the hospital was shook with news that Mrs. Steele would be taking a day off, her first one in decades. You were quite confused, of course, but didn't think too much about it. When texting her, she simply replied she had to "Figure out some stuff," and you decided not to delve further. There were more pressing matters at hand, after all.
Over the following days, the number of curious incidents in the hospital increased as completely out of the blue, more and more patients began developing superpowers. It wasn't that uncommon for a power to emerge in today's super-filled society, but so many in so little time all at the same location was unprecedented. Little did you know that this was your influence at work, your healing power having worked on various patients for weeks now, just like with Mrs. Steele, and at last managing to remove or heal the various evolutionary roadblocks that were keeping their powers from developing.
You were witnessing one of the first incidents with you own eyes, as a regular checkup was interrupted horrifically as bony spikes began to push out through the man's skin. While the other nurses were fetching sedatives to calm the screaming man, you stayed by his side, comforting and healing him through the ordeal until finally he fell to sweet unconsciousness from the drugs, the spikes receding and leaving no visible marks on his skin.
The following days weren't any easier, as more and more patients contracted the mysterious "symptoms." A man turning invisible. A woman rising to the air with no control over her flight. A baby teleporting outside much to the horror of her parents.
You were in the pregnancy ward on Friday when another incident struck, much more curious than others. One of the expectant mothers suddenly began groaning, and as you rushed to her side you noticed she was growing rapidly. Her trashing kicked off the sheets and you could see her breasts swelling, her tunic stained by breast milk as her mammaries grew. Her hips widened and her hair grew, but the most worrying of all was her stomach, which was pulsating violently, growing larger and larger and larger all the while you could see small limbs pushing against the elastic skin, the woman's groans turning into moans as the change was clearly causing her great pleasure.
After a while the change died down, the woman falling asleep, her stomach now a huge mountainous dome bursting with children. Later on, various tests revealed what had happened to her. She was now carrying sextuplets, all ready to be born in a few days, all daughters, all already exhibiting genetic abnormalities that hinted at early age superpowers. Her milk production was in overdrive, her skeleton had been reinforced to handle the load of multiple offspring, and her ovaries were overflowing with estrogen, and were apparently self-fertilizing, producing more zygotes even before her current children had left the womb. She was well and truly a super-mother.
You arrived at the home exhausted that day. Even your almost limitless well of energy was getting tapped out with all the activity going on at the hospital. You'd been running around the place all week, responding to each and every new superpowered incident. Even Mrs. Steele seemed to be at loss of what to do. Luckily the word came in today that they were getting reinforcements from the government, people more qualified at handling supers. They would sort things out soon enough.
You just had to hope nothing bad happened before then.
