Threats and Defenders of the Anime World

added by Anonymous A year ago BM O Mythological Magic Reality alteration

Beautiful stories were told from the conflicts between light and darknessry, so, on touching the crystal sphere, Jay began the next phase of his anime world building. First, he willed a Demon Realm to spring forth from the aether. An often twisted mirror of the material plane, with forests populated by tentacles and blasted hellscapes rather than deserts. Ruled by a succession of Demon Overlords, all incubi or succubi, that had tried to conquer the material plane. Opposing the varied and numerous demon hordes were heroes who each had earned renown and fame through their victories echoing down the ages. The demons also had an influence on the native monsters that followed when Jay shifted focus to creating them.

All, to a greater or lesser extent, had a distinctly sexual element to them. From the pollen and pistil-hungry Alraunes to the more pest-like and bestial varieties of goblin-kind who saw any captured women as little more than wombs. The demon society and monsters were, however, not two-dimensional. A minotaur may happily run a farm providing milk, meat and produce to sell to his or her community. And despite being near mortal enemies, demons live among the other races and a not insignificant number oppose their warlike stance. In more peaceful times, minor Demon Lords and Ladies established trade routes between their section of the Demon Realm to the humanoid kingdoms and countries to share goods and culture. In short, they are as capable of both goodness and evil as anyone else, even if they lean toward evil on the whole.

Resting for a while, Jay again looked out the window. The variety of people had increased again. The dark elf that still continued to tease a furiously blushing light elf had a pair of cute horns poking out of her hair and owned a spaded tail that was coiled around her leg. Part demon. A pair of guards (in over-detailed and unrealistic armor by any measure except within this world) were sending the tiefling a few suspicious glances. They still stayed at their posts and their postures were relaxed and unbothered. More signs of militarism could be seen as utilitarian and defensive structures imposed themselves on the castle walls. Had to be other signs elsewhere too, Jay knew. Still, the underlying anime-esque logic kept it minimal.

Next, Jay sat down with dungeons. Structures separate from the demons. These pockets dimensions could open up almost anywhere and warped the landscape around it slightly. An undead lair could turn a small part of the forest into a fetid swamp. At their heart lay the Dungeon Core that continually refreshed the monsters inside and grew the complex that allowed more dangerous monsters to spawn and spread its outside influence. Skilled adventurers or villains could destroy or claim the core for themselves. Sometimes destroying it caused the entire place to fade away, for others the influence it had on the world lingered.

Speaking of adventurers. Few anime fantasy worlds could be entirely complete without a guild to coordinate the aspiring heroes and mercenaries setting out for wealth, fame, and glory. A network of them existed across the continents, with local organizations and multi-country spawning ones all competing for all that work Jay had made sure to create earlier. Some merely issued a license to those willing to pay and owned a weapon to more established running academies dedicated to adventuring and dungeon delving. Adventurers came from all walks of life from noble dandies seeking excitement to farm boys dreaming of being the next hero and assembling a harem. Some surely were selfless?

Although slightly at odds with the fantasy themes, Jay also had an enduring love for mecha which inspired his next creation. Knightly orders piloting great golem artifices stood as a bulwark against the largest and most powerful of demonic beasts available to the Demon Realm and other leviathans. The smallest reached a few meters, little more than a power suit, but rare and towering giants standing several dozens of feet could also be found within their armories. Naturally, they have proved effective against other golem suits too. They came in countless shapes, from the ones wrought from plantlife by forest-dwelling elves to the forged metal behemoths by dwarfs. Demons, too, had learned from their opponents the secrets of their creation.

Jay sloughed his posture and took a deep breath. He had done a fair deal already. Did he still have any more creative juices in him or was he ready to enter this world (possibly just for the moment)? Jay didn’t know yet, but was eager to find out.
