The light faded as your vision began to return, having been blinded by the bright light it took you and so many others a moment before you realize what had happened.
There floating over Central Park was a giant ball of water.
It was so big that it would have bloated out the sun but the sunlight passed through the water giving everything a rather beautiful glow. You couldn’t tell how high the ball went but given that you where at the edge of the park and it touched the roofs of nearby buildings before going on it had to be massive. Yet it was crystal clear.
“It’s a death star of water?” said a boys voice a little bit away from you as everyone kept looking up at this ball of water.
Then droplets of water began to fall, you would have assumed rain but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky only the ball of water.
The water was strangely warm and smelled of salt.
You look back up to see movement within the ball, you spot countless tropical fish and sharks. Then you spot what you think for a moment to be a humanoid figure but with a fish tail.
“A mermaid! Mommy I see a mermaid!” cried a little girl
“That is impossible.” Said the mother
“The news says a wall of this water has surrounded the city!” yelled someone holding up their phone to show an image of a wall of water cutting the nearby bridges in half before going up and up higher then the tallest skyscraper.
You run out into the street all traffic had already stopped as you look down the long straight roads and upwards. You can see the massive wall of water which now had you trapped within. You look up as the water dripping off from the central mass began to fall at a good rate.
Then a scream filled the air, you turn around to see a strange mass beginning to grow on a stopped yellow cabby. It was growing rapidly and reaching upwards. You look around some more and spot more of the strange growth covering different objects and coming in different colors. It took you and so many others a moment to realize that it was coral. You look down toward your phone just in time to see a drop of water fall on it and out of that spot coral began to form.
“It’s the water!” you scream “It’s transforming….”
You never got a chance to answer as the ball of water broke and shot downwards in a column of water before spreading over those near the park. You where able to watch live on your phone from a news crew which happened to be right under the sphere. They were washed over by the water and as the camera spun around you thought you saw the newswomen began to transform growing a mermaid tail.
“RUN!” someone yelled as you noticed rising water coming from the park.
