It seemed like the intake hadn't finished yet. Lily walked down the hall, a clinical grey boring colour, hearing some distant commotion, but not coming across another soul as she traipsed down the stairwell towards the ground floor. They had mentioned she was one of the first in, but this was ridiculous!
As she got to the bottom of the staircase, she noticed the fire escape was ajar. Surely they'd be monitored, but... well, she was back in school, half the fun was sneaking out, right?
She wandered out onto the wide open lawn, glancing back. The entire place looked fairly new, a squat academy-like building in the middle of a field, with two dorms nearby, and a couple of outbuildings. It was twilight, so unless there were dogs, or guards, she thought she could make it over to the treeline. And sure enough... no one stopped her! Sure, it was chilly, her nipples poking through her ridiculous blouse, but no dogs appeared, no guards, no sudden spotlights. She was sneaking off! But what exactly was that light in the distance?
