Paul was getting done with his summer homework before his first college semester would begin. He was studying in the public library, taking notes, when he saw Stacy walk up to him and give him a nasty look.
“What is her problem?” He asked himself. “All I’ve been is nice to her and she still acts mean.”
Stacy always looked down upon Paul, and most men. While she was sexually straight, she despised men. She avoided male professors, didn’t make too many male friends, and tended to bully docile guys like Paul. She liked breaking hearts and seeing the pain she caused her exes.
From her own eyes, every guy was the same. She thought that they all wanted sex and power, and that they only got in the way of her own progress. It didn’t matter that people like Paul were generally kind, she thought that deep down, even guys like Paul just wanted sex.
The reality was that Stacy tended to encompass many traits she despised of men. She was aggressive, power hungry, and generally controlling. She tried to justify these attributes by claiming that she’s just trying to treat men like they treat other people. Ironically, Paul was the opposite. He was passive, willing to work with others, and didn’t desire to control.
Both Paul and Stacy forgot that it was the first day of July. As Stacy walked past Paul to pick up a book, both of them were caught off guard as the Wave of Light passed through the library.
