"Well, well, well! What do we have here then?". An inhuman voice echoed down the empty corridor. "It's been a long time since I've had a visitor."
The boy spun around. The voice laughed. "You're not going to see me that easily! You've left reality behind. Things work differently around here. Comprende?". Something brushed past his legs. He jumped, and stumbled against a nearby wall.
"Who are you?! What do you want from me?!" He spun around, hands against the wall for support, eyes still searching for the source of the voice.
"Why, I'm a friend just looking to have a bit of fun in the backrooms of unreality. It gets awfully lonely out here sometimes.". A light flickered down the hall. A breeze rushed past the boy's face.
"I just want to go home! Please don't hurt me!"
"Hurt you?" The voice chuckled. "I would never do that. I just want to play with you! Get to know you a bit." A floorboard creaked. "How about a deal? You let me have some fun with you, and then I help point you back to reality. Unharmed."
"What if you're lying? How do I know you're telling the truth?" He thought he saw a shadow flickering at the corner of his eye.
The corridor darkened, and the voice grew more ominous and threatening. "That's the fun part: you don't! But it's easy to get lost in the backrooms, and not everyone here is as friendly as I am. Eternity is a long time to spend nowhere and time flows strangely here. Do you even know how long you've been here already?"
The boy looked down to see he had grown several inches. His clothes were ripped in several places. He felt stubble on his chin, and his hair brushed the top of his shoulders. He must have aged 3 or 4 years in what felt like an instant.
"What did you do to me?!"
"I told you. Time flows strangely here. Do you want to go home? Do you agree to my deal?"
