You hop in the shower and lather up your thin, lean body. You got no muscles at all, but hopefully this will change soon as you dream about joining the track team as a college freshman.
Once you come out of the shower, you dry off and slip into some sweatpants and a t-shirt. You get something to eat before you work on a school assignment on the laptop. Eventually, you crawl in bed and doze off.
When you wake up the following morning, your mother had left for work already. She leaves you some cash and a shopping list on the coffee table. Great, so you need to go to the store to buy some things for the house. You brush your teeth and get dressed. Finally, you put on your shoes and your new jacket before you run out the door. Luckily, there is a small strip mall just a few blocks away from the house.
Once you arrive at the small strip mall, you enter the bagel shop where you order a breakfast sandwich and a mug with hot chocolate to drink. You pay for the food using the cash your mother had given you and you grab a seat at the table in the corner.
You try to take off the jacket, but the zipper is stuck. You try to remove it three times, but it’s no use. The jacket won’t come off. It’s as if the jacket wants to stay around your body. So, you sit down at the table while wearing the jacket. You drink the hot chocolate, and you slowly eat your bagel once a nice lady brings it out to you on a plate.
Once you’re done with breakfast, you head back out and you stroll two blocks down the street to the grocery store, where you pull your mom’s grocery list out of one of the pockets. The list isn’t very long, so you read off all the items as you push an empty cart down the first aisle in the grocery store. You carefully select all the items on the list, and you go to the cashier when you’re done. The items are rung up and you pay for the groceries, walking out of the store with just one grocery bag.
You walk a short mile back home, carrying the heavy grocery bag. Strangely enough, the grocery bag started out as feeling rather heavy when you left the store. When you arrived at the house, it no longer felt that heavy at all anymore. Had you become stronger during that time?
Once you dropped off the bag at the house and you had taken a few minutes to unpack the groceries and put everything away, you decided to leave the house again since you were the only person home and there was nothing else to do. Why not go to the park?
On the way over to the large, public park, you walked by a girl who was playing on her violin while singing songs on the street. Several people stopped to listen to her, since she was near the quiet entrance to the park. People gave her donations and they clapped and sang along with her songs. You just stood there and listened to her as she sung two of her songs before dropping a few quarters into her open violin case, which lay on the ground. From there, you continued into the park where you spotted other kids who were playing softball, frisbee, tennis and other sports.
As you strolled by the baseball fields, you saw a soccer ball roll towards you, which came from a soccer pitch. You casually kicked the ball back, sending the ball soaring high across the sky until it bounced and landed right before the goal on the other side of the field. You didn’t plan on kicking it that hard, but for some reason you felt like you had more strength and power in your legs than you realized. Several kids came up to you and they asked you if you wanted to hang out and kick a ball around with them. You didn’t have any shorts on or anything, so you told them that you would run back home and change into some more comfortable clothing.
You turned around and strolled back to your house, which was only two blocks away from the large, public park. While walking home, you thought about the strange things which happened to you, how easily you carried the grocery bag and how far you kicked the soccer ball. Then, it dawned on you that you were feeling stronger and more energetic. Did the strange jacket have anything to do with that?
When you finally turned towards your street, you saw an elderly lady, Mrs. Jones. Her old car had stalled just as she was about to pull into her driveway, and she was standing right by her car, which was blocking part of the street.
“Young man, can you lend us a hand, please?” she asked you as you stopped in front of her driveway. “I need a strong man to push my car onto the driveway!”
“Sure, Mrs. Jones. Let me see what I can do for you!”
You walked towards the back of her old Volkswagen Beatle, and you placed both hands against the rear bumper. Then, you gave it a hard push, pushing the car up the driveway. Miraculously, you had enough strength to push the car up the edge of the driveway and onto the paved surface.
“There you go, ma’am!” you said politely.
You turned around and walked off. That was easier than you had expected. You had just pushed a car onto a driveway with little or no effort at all. Again, you begin to wonder if your new letter jacket had given you the strength to perform all these feats throughout the day?
Once you walked back into the house, you strolled right into the bedroom. You try to unzip the jacket again, but it wouldn’t come off. You tried it three times before finally, the zipper unzipped, and you were able to remove the jacket after having worn it for almost five hours that morning.
You walked into the bathroom where you saw your reflection in the mirror, and you were caught by surprise. Your quads were thicker and wider, and your calves were bigger as well. Not only that, but your arms were thick with muscle and your chest now included big pectorals and a ripped set of abdominal muscles. You had gained a good thirty pounds of muscle for sure!
“Whoa! What the heck?” you gasp, as you raise up an arm and flex, admiring a melon-sized bicep. “I’m all buff, now!”
You decide to return to the park with shorts and a tank top, just to play ball and to have some fun. You would wear the jacket again tomorrow before going to the track later. Would you have a chance to join the track team now, with your new muscle gains?
