Jake found a large bronze ring sitting patiently on one of the shelves, all by itself as though it were waiting for him to find it. Picking it up, he realized what it was: a cock ring. He looked it over and found that it was constructed with two interlocking bands that twisted in opposite directions, a small gear set between them that pointed towards several strange symbols around both halves. It was both aesthetically beautiful and mechanically fascinating, but Jake wondered what the symbols meant. He looked around the aisles a bit until he came across the store clerk again and asked him what this ring was.
“Ah, that is a very fine item there, Sir,” the young man replied, his face lighting up at the sight of it. “It is called the Ring of Verisimilitude. It is capable of changing one’s male member in various ways, primarily by copying from one subject to another.”
He saw Jake’s confusion and held up a finger, the other hand outstretched to take the ring.
“Allow me to better explain. When you put this on, you can turn the bands such that they create a multitude of combinations depending on which symbols are across from the setting gear. For example, if I turn it so that the top band is set to ‘other’ and the bottom band is set to ‘self’, the ring will target the next person I look at and copy their physical attributes to myself. Here, I can demonstrate with our fingers, though the sizing will be a little off.”
To Jake’s amazement, the clerk hung the oversized ring on his thumb, spun the bands, and looked at him. Before Jake’s eyes, the older man’s thumb shrunk and transformed until it looked like an exact replica of his own thumb, only much bigger to fit the ring.
“That’s incredible!” Jake marveled.
“Indeed. Now, if I turn it so that the symbols are on opposite sides—‘other’ on the bottom and ‘self’ on the top—the ring will remotely copy my finger onto you!”
Another twist of the bands and a glance from the clerk and Jake suddenly found his own thumb replaced by an enlarged copy of the clerk’s thumb, which was now back to normal on the man’s own hand.
“It is called the Ring of Verisimilitude because it creates a perfect copy of the targeted organ, including a telekinetic connection between yourself and your subject. In other words, if you change yourself, you will be able to feel everything the subject feels. If you change the other person, they will be able to feel everything you do. Some combinations also allow the connection to work both ways!
“Now, you’ll notice that I only demonstrated two of the symbols in combination with each other. There are many symbols on each band, creating a variety of possible transformation types. I can’t demonstrate them all to you, however, I can give you this,” he said, holding out a small booklet, which Jake eagerly took along with the ring. “This explains the meaning of each symbol on its own. However, there is no guide on what happens for each combination. You’ll have to make an educated guess and be willing to do a little experimenting. Fortunately, the changes can be reversed by simply removing the ring, though you will need to wait for any ongoing erection to subside before that becomes possible. So, a valuable artifact, but also an unpredictable one. Good luck with your new find!”
The clerk was suddenly ushering Jake out the door, catching the poor college kid off-guard as he found himself shunted back out into the empty mall. By the time he gathered his bearings and went to turn around, Jake found the store was no longer there, an empty lease space in its place. He gulped nervously, but he couldn’t deny his excitement to try this ring out, despite the unease left in him by the store. He walked back through the mostly empty mall, wondering whether he should try this thing out at one of the few open stores left here, shoot for somewhere more populous, or even take it home to test in private first.
