Before she knew what was going on the undercover officer was shouting at her.
“Get on the ground! Your under arrest for soliciting prostitution! Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.” The undercover cop shouted, as he proceeded to cuff Luna while reading her rights.
Luna’s head was spinning. This was all happening too fast she was scared and confused. Tears were running down her cheeks, smudging her makeup. She tried to plea between sobs.
“No this can’t be happening! I...I can’t go to jail for prostitution. I’m just a student. I’m going to graduate next week. Please you got to let me go I’m innocent!”
No sooner had the words left her mouth did Luna’s reality change. Now she was a high school dropout just trying to make a quick few bucks from her old classmates. She was still scared but knew she was guilty.
“Damn I shouldn’t have dropped out of school.” She thought, “just a few more weeks and you would have graduated. Now what am I going to do now.” Luna was lost in her thoughts for the rest of the ride to the station.
Luna was processed quickly and tossed into a jail cell. She paced around her cell for an hour or two before stopping one of the guards.
“Don’t I get a phone call?” She inquired, the guard was about to say yes when the ring quickly got to work so that she was not allowed to phone home. Luna slumped to the floor in despair. Then one of her cell mates chimed in.
“First time?” The gruff prisoner asked. Again the ring worked quick to make Luna lie.
“No” she replied, as memories of being caught breaking the law flashed into her mind. Luna now had a criminal record two miles long. From drug possession to prostitution she had practically done it all. In fact she spent more nights in the country jail than at home.
“It doesn’t matter my folks are rich they bail me out in no time” Luna stayed mater of factly, after all she’s been through this many times before.
Luna’s reality changed once more. No longer the rebellious bratty child of an upper middle class family she was now the rebellious bratty child of a low income family. Luna’s head hung low knowing that her family was too poor to afford bail, after all that was why she was under the bleachers selling her body to her ex-classmates.
