Veronica Williams was one of the lead members in the mutation experiment, implementing a giant tank containing the liquid that were to many parts of the city to transform people, with the objective of see the properties of this new substance they discovered, it was certainly cruel but she didn't care now that she had an important role. All her life she was the shadow of something bigger, working as a biology and DNA scientist she did the hard work but never got credited, that's why SILK CO. caught interest in her, using her knowledge to start the mutation project that was an total success.
Many days later after the mutations started in all the city, SILK CO. secretly kidnapped some of the mutants and store them in the underground cells of the company.
Veronica was called by her boss in the secret meeting room. After Veronica arrived, she saw her boss turning his back while smoking a cigarette.
"I hope you know why are you here" her boss exhaled the cigarette smoke.
"Well... I don't" Veronica started talking faster "But I can give you the statistics of the recent mutations, show you the new mutants we brought, or..."
"ENOUGH" an awkward silence filled the room after the shout of the boss. "Veronica... We don't need you anymore"
The scientist's hands got weaker, throwing all her papers on the floor. "Wh-what?" She said with a depressed expression.
"The experiment was a success. And you did your part. Now you can leave like this never happened" he began to smoke again.
"B-but... But!" Tears came from her eyes. "YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME! ALL THIS IS THANKS TO ME! YOU CAN'T JUST..."
"Don't make me repeat myself" the boss pulled out a gun pointing at her. "Goodbye"
Veronica ran out closing the door with her ID card, then the boss pressed a button triggering the alarms and soldiers to eliminate Veronica, she didn't know where to run, she only thought of scaping somewhere, she went through the mutant cells, watching how all the mutants screamed scratching their cells trying to kill her as she scaped. The soldiers found her and began to chasing her, Veronica ran as she could but she stopped at a platform, that if she looked down, was the tank with the entire mutation liquid.
"It's over, come here or things will turn worse" a soldier approached her.
"NO!" she yelled, "you can't do this to me! I'll never be a prisoner again" she began to laugh.
"Professor, we suggest you to follow us" the soldier pointed at her with his gun.
Veronica started to smile and laugh wickedly, then she extended her arms, and fell backwards, falling inside the mutation liquid tank and leaving no trace.
"So, this is over?" a soldier said.
"I think so... No human could take all that liquid" another one replied, living the room.
