While Riley and Emily stayed happily at home, Paul was driving to his job place, with the camera of course. Once he arrived, he decided to see if the camera still worked despite how it looked, so he decided to take a picture of his workplace, accidentally putting his thumb in frame!
The flash engulfed Paul and the entire construction site. Originally, they were working on a new office space for the town, but in an instant all their hard work was eradicated as the changes to reality took place. The building vanished, and across the space trees suddenly appeared alongside grass and a pleasant walkway.
Gruff workmen all transformed, replaced by different people of different backgrounds and ages. A chubby Asian man became a middle aged woman, a muscular African American transformed into a latino child, and a stray cat that was wandering by became a large swingset in a newly formed play area.
All around the former workers transformed into average citizens enjoying a nice day out in the park. As Paul's thumb was in frame, he changed as well. In an instant the tall, gruff man shrunk down. His blonde hair re-sprouted as his clothes turned into overalls with a Disney t-shirt. Paul had regressed, becoming an 5 year old child. Of course, with all awareness turned off, even he couldn't tell that anything was amiss.
Paul blinked at the large flash, then began to look around with a concerned glare. Of course, he wasn't looking at the change for he was unaware, but rather a specific person.
"Paul, over here sweetie!" An angelic voice rose from behind him.
Paul turned to see his mother, or rather, the woman that had become his mother. What had once been a young, single woman walking to the store had now become a new mother to the now young Paul. The brunette sashayed over, letting her golden dress sway in the breeze. She picked up the child easily, then gave his forehead a kiss.
"What's that honey?" She asked, spying the camera.
"Camera!" He laughed, pushing it into her free hand.
"Hmm, did someone lose it maybe?" She muttered to herself, wondering where her child had found this.
She glanced around the park but didn't see anything amiss. There were families playing together, a man walking his dog, a few women going for a jog, none looking as if they had lost an old polaroid camera. So, she gave it another look, noticing the strange markings on it. Awareness? Reality change? Transformation specifications? What did any of these switches actually do?
She fiddled with a switch or two, and then...
