"Take off your clothes and put them in the incinerator chute," the old man bluntly instructs. You hesitate a moment, thinking there must be some mistake. Are you supposed to get completely naked in front of this stranger?
"Well, come on, we don't have all day," he says, crossing his arms and tapping his foot. "You're the one who wanted to be a rabbit, and you should have thought of that if you were so worried about this weird get-up you apparently consider fashionable."
Damn, this old man is even ruder now that you're irreversibly on your way to becoming a rabbit. Couldn't he have a little tact? This is was supposed to be exciting and life-changing! You love the idea of being an adorable little bunny, just waiting to become the center of affection in some happy family somewhere. It's all you've been able to think about for weeks! If he wasn't going to be supportive, why would he even become a cashier at a pet shop that does species reassignment? Couldn't he at least pretend he had something to do other than rush you around so he could perv out at the sight of your bare breasts?
Well, in fairness, he did have to make sure you were medically ready to undergo the process, and you had signed away all your human rights, including your right to modesty. You still glare at him with pouting lips anyway. He rolls his eyes and turns around.
You slip off all your garments and dispose of them, mildly displeased that your somewhat expensive clothing was going to waste. You spread your arms and legs to make room for the medi-bots to hover around you and scan every nook and cranny of your naked human form. They take turns beeping to indicate a successful status update. Then the old man leads you to a chamber. You walk in and he locks the door behind you. A light comes on overhead, and vents near the floor spray a mostly transparent pink gas into the chamber. You cough a few times, but you soon find yourself breathing easier. Your eyes water and you have to shut them, but you soon adjust and find yourself seeing fairly well, although everything has a pink tint. And that is when the real changes begin.
First, your breasts shrink into your body, which you expected but it is really hard to watch. You've always considered yourself fairly well endowed, but you won't need the kind of looks that attract human males any longer. Fur starts growing out of your chest and soon encompasses your entire torso and most of your arms and legs as well. You do at least have time to get a decent look at this as it is growing in, and when it is thick enough to truly cover your bare skin, you find yourself admiring the patchy white-and-brown coat you will be sporting as a rabbit. You pet your new fur gently with your hand and savor the feeling. You can't wait to have people petting you and playing with you on a daily basis!
You feel a pressure in your ears, and you know what's coming next. Those huge, floppy sound-catchers are the most adorable part of a bunny in your eyes, and you can scarcely contain your excitement to be growing a pair of your own! You raise your hand to try to examine your changing ears, and at first they're just a bit rounder and thinner, but then they start stretching very gradually into a more oval shape. You realize it is going to take some time for them to get to their full bunny length and width. But you can still enjoy playing with them a bit as they begin to flop around and grow a fine coating of fuzz on the back.
A strange twitching from your nose and cheeks alerts you to a set of long, clear hairs that have spread out from your face to arc away to either side--your new bunny whiskers! You drop a hand to brush the hairs and gauge their sensitivity, but you are rapidly distracted from your whiskers by the crack in your tailbone and a jolt along your back. Something swells beneath you and then hugs tight against your butt. You reach both hands behind you to pad them along your buttocks until they find your fluffy tail. It twitches around noticeably under your touch while you crane your neck around to try to see it. It's as furry as the rest of you, but very short, not like a cat's or dog's.
Your ears are now much longer and more deeply cupped than they were before, and you greatly enjoy flexing them them around on your head. The twitching of your whiskers is pleasant as well, as your face juts out into a muzzle. Your arms are shrinking in against your body, so you squat down to put your changing hands against the ground. Soon they will be paws. Your feet stretch forward long and strong, soon resembling the cozy rabbit's feet that so many people consider lucky. One of the last things that changes for you is your eyes drifting apart towards the sides of your head, giving you a nearly panoramic view of the chamber you're stuck in. Finally looking around the room is all it takes to notice how high the ceiling is now, or rather how small you have become during your change. You have no idea where all of your mass went, but you are glad it's gone, as you have always secretly fantasized about being small. Being a rabbit will give you a chance to live that dream as well!
The gas gets sucked back into the vents, the chamber door opens, and the cashier walks in, towering over you. You are a small, furry creature now, gazing up at the dominant species like a cultist gazing fearfully and awesomely at some ancient stone idol. He wraps his mighty hands around your body and lifts you into his arms, where he pets your fur and carries you out of the chamber. Your body collapses into his cradling, limp with bliss, as he takes you toward the rabbit cages.
