Everyone just stood around stunned as the mermaid, Tamela retreated back into the ocean leaving a large group of stunned spring breakers alone on an island.
“Ok…this has to be some kind of fucked up dream?” said one women
“Who spiked the beer?” asked the man
“HELP!!!” yelled Mike as he sat near the water line, one of his legs now covered with black and purple scales up to almost the knee while the other was just above the ankle. “I can’t fucking walk.”
That confused Lindsay until she saw that his legs had already fused at the ankles, turning two limbs into one at that point.
“Come on man, lets get you to your truck.” Said one of Mike’s friends as a pair of them picked up the large muscular man and carried him back toward the truck. As they carried him, everyone gathered around and a few even reached out and touched the scales. Everyone tried to get their phones to work but none would even turn on, someone tried to start one of the trucks, but it didn’t start.
“Why will this not start?” yelled the guy in the truck.
“Because it takes an electrical charge to turn over.” Said one of Lindsay’s friends, Barbara as she stood beside the truck. “Why do you think vehicles take batteries?”
“Shut up you dumb bimbo.” Stated the man
“Bimbo?” said Barbara rolling her eyes, she had heard that before. She did look like a stereo type of a bimbo, massive breasts, thin frame and extremely long blonde hair she kept back in a ponytail and looked like one of those girls who would spend where whole day at the mall. But behind that was a championship winner boxer, a woman who had just been accepted to a graduate program in mechanical engineering and who had built and raced her own motorcycles. “Sure, keep trying, just waste your time.”
With that Barbara walked over to Lindsay.
“So your stuck here too?” inquired Lindsay
“Yep, drank to much and now we are in the same boat as everyone else.” Stated Barbara as she pointed over her shoulder to where her girlfriend a dark-haired beauty, Alexandria normally called Alex stood with a small group of their friends. Including Wendy who was possibly the only woman shorter than Lindsay who didn’t have a disability and her boyfriend a well-built blonde man but who was the shiest man she had ever meet named James.
“Sorry I recommended we come to the beach.” Apologized Lindsay as Barbara shrugged.
“We all wanted to go.” confirmed Barbara as she and Lindsay looked around, there where multiple people they recognized but others whom they didn’t know at all. They had been at a popular spring break destination so people walking in and out of parties isn’t uncommon. Lindsay herself had been to parties thrown be people she didn’t know.
“MY GOD!” yelled a different woman as she looked at her inner leg to see a scale on her leg. That started the panic off as everyone started to search their bodies for signs of the change, all found something in one way or another. Some found a patch of scales or tender flesh, some found minor changes starting like hair color or larger breasts or more muscles.
“Lindsay…are you ok?” asked her boyfriend, Oscar as he came to stand in front of her.
“I have been better.” confirmed Lindsay as she looked at Oscar, if she wasn’t imagining it his black hair was somehow darker. She knew he had been in the water, so had herself and a lot of other people. She walked over to her close friend’s group, right now everyone was kind of separating out into their own tighter friend groups.
“So Merpeople?” inquired Alexandria as she stood beside her girlfriend.
“Yes….” Confirmed James with a heavy sigh.
“So what now?” inquired Lindsay
“A part of me, just wants to walk into the water and get this over with but another part wants to fight to find a way to get home.” Admitted Wendy, her honey brown hair now seamed to have some lighter highlights in it.
“If there is a way for us to travel here there must be a way to travel back home.” Stated Barbara
“I am almost sure there.” confirmed Lindsay as her friends looked at her. “How else would humans even know about merpeople but it is probably under water.”
“Makes sense.” Confirmed Alex “And I don’t think that mermaid would tell us there is a way home, she seams to just want all of us to transform so she can go about on her day.”
“It’s a job to her.” Countered Lindsay
“MY GOD NO!” yelled Mike from the bed of the truck as he called people to his attention.
“So shall we go see what the idiot who is transforming is becoming or should we figure out what to do ourselves?” inquired Wendy “It may help us prepare for what to become.”
“Do we want to know that?” countered James
