“Isn’t it pretty!” Norah cried, showing off her dazzling new engagement ring. It was encrusted with diamonds all over, very sparkly,
“You sure they’re all real?” Elisha asked,
“Of course they’re real,” Norah said, bringing her hand closer to her chest, “Sebastian would never lie about anything, especially about an engagement ring!” She said, ignoring the minute possibility the diamonds weren’t completely ‘authentic’, “plus, he’s too rich to get a fake anyway,” she specified,
“If I have to hear you talk about ‘Sebastian’s money’ this ‘and ‘Sebastian’s money’ that, I’m gonna barf,” Hayley chimed, making the whole group chuckle… except Norah, of course,
“Just because my boyf— fiancé!” She corrected herself, “is rich doesn’t mean anything,”
“Other than you bragging about it,” Hayley pushed,
“Ladies, lets calm down here,” Chase said, trying his best to defuse the situation as he always did,
“You should be happy as well,” Norah started, “Sebastian said he’s happy to pay for this WHOLE meal to celebrate!”
“Wow!” The rest of the group said collectively,
“Say thanks from me,” Elisha stated,
“Yeah, from me as well… and Hayley,” Chase commented,
“Hey!” Hayley chimed back, “I can say thank you on my own!” She stated. There was a silence, Hayley noticed everyone was staring at her. She finally broke the silence, “…are we gonna order or what?” She asked cluelessly. The rest of the group chuckled amongst themselves.
The group consisted of four main friends: Hayley, Chase, Elisha, and Norah.
Hayley was a dark skinned girl who’s favourite colour was clearly red, indicated by her almost all-red outfit. Her hair short and highlighted blonde at the edges. She’d clearly made an effort for the meal, which the rest of the group appreciated. She was a generally fiery person, constantly making comments that could (and have) get her punched in the face. She was most confident around her friends, and generally wasn’t interested in relationships at all.
Chase was the bro-dude of the group. Lighter skin (with a little tan), blonde hair, blue eyes, and generally fitting all the criteria of jock in terms of physical appearance, as well as High-School career. He would usually be wearing tank-tops and shorts, but for the sake of the meal he was wearing a nice button up shirt and long trousers, as well as some fairly fashionably appropriate shoes. He’d had a number of partners over the years, but never quite figured out how to make them stick, never lasting more than a year in a single relationship. He was no longer looking for a solid relationship, instead focussing on his career (and possibly going further with his education). Although, he wasn’t opposed to the odd hookup every once in a while…
Elisha was the most mysterious one, never making it too clear as to what she wanted to do. All the group did know is that she wanted to move into the city to experience ‘city life’. She had been in a long-term relationship with someone for over four years, and none of the group had ever met her. Elisha kept the relationship to herself, but the group all figured that’s why she wanted to move to the city.
She’d made an effort with her outfit, wearing a sleeveless button shirt as well as some tight jeans, all on the darker side, fitting her usual attire. She was the only one with long hair, black with slanted bangs to cover a portion of her darker skin. She always wore boots regardless of the weather.
Finally, there was Norah. Always the attention loving girl. At just twenty-five, she was suddenly engaged to a man named Sebastian. Over the years of being on and off with various boyfriends, she finally settled on a fairly sweet guy, who seemed to have proposed to her in France around three weeks prior. She’d kept her engagement a secret from her friends, inviting them out to a new restaurant in town. She had been known for her pale skin and red hair, lacking any freckles whatsoever. Her outfit of choice was a very expensive looking blue jumpsuit as well as some blue hoop earrings and darker (still expensive) heels. She had a vast array of qualifications, basically allowing her to get any job she really wanted, but since meeting Sebastian, she decided to quit her job. Perhaps to do with his money, but the others had always been confused why she’d dropped her job so quickly upon meeting (and subsequently dating) him.
The group had only ever met Sebastian once, and it was at another friends Wedding. He’d been charming, attractive, and very laid back. Things always seemed to go his way no matter what.
But that didn’t matter, as the waitress had finally arrived at the table,
“I heard about your engagement!” The lady said to Norah, admiring her ring,
“O-oh… really?” She replied. The whole group looked a little confused,
“Yes! Your husband— fiancé put a word in for you, and is happily paying for your whole tables meal!”
“He already paid for it?” Hayley asked,
“It’s prepaid,” the waitress corrected, “it’s a special offer for very special circumstances,”
“Wow,” Chase said, he turned back to Norah, “again, say thanks from me,”
“Yeah we really appreciate it!” Hayley said, finally saying an overdue thank you,
“Y-yeah, of course,” Norah said. She clearly looked very confused by this whole situation.
Breaking the tension suddenly, the waitress asked,
“Would you like to start with drinks?”
