The Pendant flies on

Jake just couldn't tear his eyes away from Zack– eh Zelda. He carelessly made this change just to see what the pendant was capable of. Zelda did appear happy, but was she really? He didn't know if he could easily live the way she did now. Yes, Zack was scrawny before, but in this new past he had gotten so ill they had to transfer his soul into a new body. He was the one who gave him this illness, wasn't he? He was starting to feel guilty for what he did.

Suddenly Zelda rose up from her seat. “I’ll go and open the door.”

“Wait, you don't have to. It's our house, after all,” Jake spoke up.

Zelda put her hands on her hips in a mock pout. “Come on, you always look after me. I think I can take care of myself enough to walk up the stairs. I wanted to stretch my wings a bit, anyways.”

Jake continued to look after Zelda as she walked up the stairs and left the room. Could he maybe change her back? He moved up his hands to touch the pendant, only to come up empty. He frantically looked around for a moment before realization hit. The pendant would disappear once he felt guilty for his actions. By feeling bad he lost his only chance to fix things. Way to mess things up and make himself even worse. He slumped back down into his chair.

“I didn't even hear the doorbell ringing,” Axel spoke up, his eyes glued to the screen.

“Me neither,” Pablo added.

Jake thought about it. Considering how lost he had been in his thoughts it was very possible he had overheard it too.

~~~~~~~~~~
As Zelda was making her way towards the home’s entrance, her thoughts unwittingly wandered towards Jake and his weird behavior. People always acted a bit overprotective of her when they learned of her story, even if she didn't like that. They tended to assume that she was unwillingly cursed to be in this form, when the exact opposite was the case. The ice golem chose the form she wanted to be in. Gone was the sick and miserable boy Zack and born was the beautiful and confident snow owl Zelda. It was the best thing that ever could've happened to her. And just being made of ice didn't make her frail, literally. Jake seemed to never have gotten out of that.
She opened the door and found to her slight surprise only a clipboard with a simple yes-or-no question written on it. “Zelda, would you change humanity if you could?”
Already being animated proof to the existence of magic, Zelda didn't question how the clipboard found its way to her and truthfully answered by crossing “Yes”. While she didn't want to flaunt it, she did genuinely believe her body to be better than a normal human’s in every way and had occasionally looked for ways to be able to share this gift with others. Not necessarily just as ice golem snow owls, everyone should be able to be the combination they liked.
The moment she lifted the pen from the paper both disappeared and were replaced by a letter in her hand and a necklace around her neck. The necklace held a silver pendant in a starburst shape with each of the finlets being a different type of animal wing. She read the letter, then read it a second time to make sure she understood right and then a third time to truly memorize every single detail of this blessing.
This pendant could transform humans into anything under the stipulation that the end result could fly (and was probably a socially accepted nudist). Even personality, past and future could be changed however desired in the process with reality adapting to everything. The pendant would stay with until she died, unlikely considering she was a golem of magic ice, or she lost the desire to change someone or felt guilty to have done so, which she saw as even more unlikely.
Zelda couldn't believe her luck. She carefully lifted the pendant and held it against her forehead, as she declared full of determination, “I swear that I will use and spread this gift more than humanly possible. I swear I will share the miracle I was allowed to experience and bring joy and happiness to everyone I come across. I swear that I will never tire of this task put upon me. I swear I will change lives at my discretion in order to improve them and will never regret any action made.”
With precision and hand-eye-coordination of inhuman levels Zelda removed the cord from the pendant and pressed the back of the star shape against the area over her chests. She could feel it sink slightly into her body. When she removed her hand, the pendant stayed perfectly in place, having become a permanent fixture of the snow owl ice golem.
With utmost care she caressed the stone in its center. Then she asked out loud, “Whose life shall I improve first?”
