As you view the sunset from a lawn chair on the back porch, you think how the red shadow across the sky almost matches your new hair. Just two days ago you were an ordinary guy, excited about the job opportunity in a new town. Now you’re a woman and your last act as a man not only help speed up your change but also likely means you’ll be a father in nine months.
Could your life get any weirder?
You hear the door slide open and turn to see Maddie step out onto the porch. “Hey Brianna.”
You give a smile. “You can call me Bree if you like,”
“Ok, Bree.” Maddie sits down on the lawn chair next to you. “I’ve been talking this over with our housemates and looking up stuff online. I’ve called in to work for tomorrow and scheduled a doctor’s appointment. If what the stuff I’ve check out online is true, there’s a 98.5% chance I’m pregnant.”
“Maddie, I’m so sorry-.”
Maddie laughs. “Sorry? What do you have to be sorry for? Yes, you knocked me up but I’m the one who seduced you, remember? If anything, I’m the one who should be making apologies.” She lets out a sigh.
“Maddie, whatever you do regarding this-I'll go along with it. It’s your body after all.” You do feel regret. You may at some time in the future make an appointment at the sperm bank and become a mother, but this will be the only child the old you will have ever fathered.
“I’ve already decided,” says Maddie. “I’m keeping the baby.” As you smile in relief, she goes on, “Our other housemates have agreed to help; with our combined salaries we can easily afford to care for a child. Who knows, I may already have daughters here in town.”
Seeing the expression on your face she continues, “The day after I moved here, and before I started-changing-I made a deposit at the sperm bank.” She smiles mischievously. “I think some of my deposit is still there. If you ever decide to make a-withdrawal-it would be nice if our daughters were full sisters.”
“Please.” You wave a hand at your new female self. “I’m still trying to get used to-this.” You smile. “But I do want to be a part of-our-daughter's life.”
“Glad to hear that. By the way,” and Maddie gets up from her chair, that Girl’s Night Out we had planned?” We’ve postponed it for tomorrow; tonight, we are doing a Girl’s Night In.”
“Girl’s Night In?”
“Kind of an adult slumber party. We drink beer, eat pizza, show you how to do your hair and makeup properly, and watch chick flicks. Oh, and you’ve got to model for us those new outfits you bought today.”
“Sounds like a night,” you say as you get up and walk towards the door.
Maddie walks behinds you. “You know Bree, that bubble-butt of yours wiggles real cute when you walk like that.”
