The Web

Take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly

Brad's six tiny legs came down for a landing on the curving slope of Matteo's giant ass cheek. He felt like his body might start vibrating from an overload of sensory exaltation as the smell of musk and coconut permeated the space.

"I can't believe I'm on a giant ass!" Brad buzzed with more excitement. Whether it was the twitching of his wings or the way his tiny legs scratched at the fleshy expanse, the giant grew dimly aware of an interloper. Without much thought Matteo flipped over in the chair, getting a glimpse of a fly that flew into the air nearby.

"Shoo," the giant said, swinging at the insect, but without the deliberation necessary to actually bring it down.

It was scary enough to jolt Brad out of his reverie for the naked sunbather. He'd had his thrill, and now it was time to get back to Mark.

He zipped over the dividing fence, crossed the wide expanse of the neighbor's garden, and detected a solitary huge form at the back door of his home.

As Brad flew closer, the looming, blurry form materialized into his gigantic spouse. Mark stood outside the back door, a gigantic tower of brown glass held in one hand. Brad was so excited to see Mark that he let himself imagine his nightmare was already at an end.

“Mark! It’s me!” Brad’s thoughts leapt ahead. He hoped to follow Mark back inside the house when that opportunity inevitably arose.

Instead, his flight toward Mark came to an abrupt halt when he flew into a sticky, nearly invisible barrier of thin filaments stretched across a corner of the awning that covered the back door to their home.

“What the fuck!” Brad twisted and turned, trying to pull free but only snared himself even more securely in what he now recognized as a web. One leg and the corner of a wing were held fast by silken cables.

He twisted more in the web, looking for any sign of the web’s weaver, all the while sending tell-tale vibrations to the hidden spinner concealed in a nook under the awning. The furious buzzing of his wings soon drew the horrible creature from its hiding place and into the open to investigate the commotion.

As Brad saw the spider descend on a cable of silk, he buzzed his wings with a renewed intensity that managed to attract Mark’s attention as he lowered the beer bottle after guzzling a drink.

The tiny creature’s giant husband stared closer, his enormous eyes squinting at the tiny winged insect caught in the silken trap.

“Mark!” Brad rejoiced that his husband had found him. “It’s me! Get me out of here!”

Instead of coming to his transformed spouse’s rescue, Mark’s expression changed as his features twisted into a grimace of disgust only inches from the trapped bug.

“Poor bastard,” Mark muttered.

“Noooo!” Brad screamed wordlessly. “Mark! Help me!”

The spider, barely bigger than Brad’s fly body but equipped with lethal fangs and eight long and spiky limbs, dropped onto the helpless insect.

The arachnid delivered a quick bite to its prey before it flipped over and aimed its spinneret toward the snared prey. Using its forelegs, the spider began to rotate Brad, wrapping more strands of silk until the insect's body had been encased in a cocoon of sorts.

Meanwhile, Mark upended the beer bottle, took another drink, frowned again, stepped away from the backyard nature programming and back inside the house, and almost immediately forgot the entire fleeting incident as the spider continued its work, wrapping up its prey in a silken cocoon for later consumption.

Deprived of even the slightest movement, Brad could only scream a soundless "no!"
