Tom waited. And he waited. Tom was hoping that any minute now he would see Eric come through the gate again, but no such thing happened. Time went by. It must have been midnight by now.
That's when Tom heard the sound of a truck pulling into his neighbors driveway. He heard a couple of people talking and he hoped it was Eric. There were other sounds that Tom couldn't quite make out. Then he heard the voices coming closer to the backyard gate.
"I have no idea what's going on around here or where Eric is, but he did tell me on the phone that the mother cow was in the backyard here." Then Tom heard the gate open and two older typical farmers walked into his yard. "There she is! Wow! She is a beauty like Eric said she was!" Then me. Approached Tom without hesitation and began inspecting his body. "She's not tagged in anyway" said one of the men to the other.
"I see that" replied the other man.
"Well no use in wasting time here. Let's get her loaded in the trailer with her family and figure out where she belongs tomorrow."
Tom looked at the man in shock. Did he say her family? Had they caught the dogs that were his family?
"Come on girl!" One of the men said as he slapped Tom's ass hard!
"Mooooo!" Tom bellowed in response. But he began to walk through the gate anyways. He wanted to see his family again!
Tom was led to a large metal trailer attached to a pick-up truck in his neighbors driveway. He saw the ramp was down already and slowly made his way into the trailer. Half his mind expected to see three dogs awaiting him, but that is not what was inside the trailer.
Inside the trailer, huddled in the far dark rear of the cold metal enclosure were two scared and shaking calves. Tom looked at the baby bovines and his heart sank! Not only was it not his family, but it must have been his neighbors!
Tom looked at the animals. 'Eric?....' Tom gently moo's at the two calves.
One of the calves perked up and looked at the massive cow before them. 'Mommy?' the calf responded, in the voice of Eric!
'Mommy? No. I'm Tom. Your neighbor.' Tom responded.
The calf that was Eric moved followed towards Tom. 'Tom?...mommy? Why do I feel like you're my mother? ' Eric asked in a sad moo.
There was a loud sound behind Tom as the farmers closed the ramp to the trailer and locked them inside. Shortly after they felt a jerk and the truck and trailer started to move out.
Eric looked up at Tom, his calf face obviously sad and terrified. 'What....what happened to us? Why am I a calf?!' he moo'd in fear
Tom looked at the sad calf and couldn't help but want to make him feel safe. 'Its going to be alright Eric. Just tell me. How much milk did you drink?' Tom asked
'Milk? Drink? Oh yeah....I drunk a glass.' Eric responded.
Tom had no idea what that would mean in terms of his brain make up at this point. He was obviously very much a calf in mind, but not totally. Then Tom looked over at Jennifer, Eric's wife and the other calf. 'How much did she drink?' Tom asked. Jennifer had been silent this entire time.
'Drink? Milk? Oh she had 3 glasses' Eric responded.
Tom looked at Jennifer in fear. 'Jennifer!' he moo'd loudly. 'Jennifer! Can you understand me?' Jennifer looked up at Tom. And then came out a sad "MOoo" but Tom heard no voice in his head. Tom was in shock. Could it be? Could Jennifer had drank too much milk? Could her mind have completely turned into that of a cow?
'I don't want to be a calf!! Mommy stop by his! I'm a human!' Eric started moo'ing historically.
Tom didn't know what to say to Eric. He had just been turned into a calf and his wife may have just completely turned into a calf for life. That's when he noticed the truck that had been moving this entire time start to turn and slow down.
Before they knew it the doors opened and the ramp pulled down to reveal.....
