Marcia Caldwell: Paranormal Private Investigator

Forgotten by the Client

After seeing how similar the banshee looked to Christine, Marcia knew exactly who to look for. Christine.

Marcia sprinted down the halls as fast as her four-year-old legs would allow her. Thanks to her rain boots, she was far from stealthy, but she didn’t need to be quiet, she just needed to find Christine!

After what felt like ages, Marcia turned a corner and collided soundly with someone’s legs. She fell on the floor, slightly stunned.

“Oh, dear!” Marcia looked up. It was Christine. Christine frowned at her. “How did you get here, sweetheart?” Christine helped Marcia to her feet, then crouched down to read the tag on Marcia’s front. “Hmm. Caldwell? I’ve never heard the name. I’ll have to talk to my security about how some little girl managed to sneak in here and was running around.”

“But-” Marcia started. Christine chuckled and ruffled her hair.

“I’m not angry at you, don’t worry! I’m actually very impressed with your cleverness, little girl! Now, let’s contact your mother, shall we?” Christine stood and took ahold of Marcia’s hand. Marcia reluctantly followed Christine through the house and into what looked like a dining room.

“I’m-” Marcia tried again. She was interrupted, however, by her stomach rumbling.

“Hungry?” Christine said with a smile. “Don’t worry, I’ll get the staff to make you a snack while I call your mommy.” Christine walked away. Before Marcia could do anything else, a maid appeared and sat her down in a dining chair, placing a bowl of toddler crackers in front of her, as well as a sippy cup of what looked like juice.

The maid smiled at Marcia, then disappeared through a doorway. Now alone, Marcia thought about her next move. Clearly, Christine was a bust, she didn’t remember her. But then again, she didn’t know Marcia well. Maybe whatever magic was done wouldn’t work as well on someone Marcia was close to? Like Rusty.

After a few moments of deliberation, Marcia knew what her next move would be.
