'Werewolf??' I thought as he walked away. I hadn't even thought about using fantasy things like that. But if this notebook really could make anything into reality, maybe it would be worth a shot. At least just to see what it would be like. 'Ethan Montgomery was bitten by a werewolf at the end of our senior year. Every full moon he turns into a full bipedal werewolf but has complete control over what he does. However, he also denies it every chance he gets. Even though he grew over six inches during the summer and gained nearly 100 pounds of muscle, he says that it was just a growth spurt. The same with the thick black fur that covers most of his body. Ethan has given up trying to shave it as it grows back in less than an hour. Small secondary characteristics like sharper teeth and pointed ears show through his human body. He has an wolf's sense of smell and hearing in his human form and gained an stronger urge to eat meat as well. But he won't eat humans.'
I lifted my pencil off the piece of paper and the words began to glow. The light quickly faded again. And just as I had described, Ethan came walking back. He stood at least 6'5" with densely packed muscle covering every inch of his body. Suddenly, I could remember how all summer his mom kept getting angry over the fact that she was having to buy him a new set of clothes as he quickly outgrew them. Nearly every time that I saw him, he was being squeezed by the fabric. And if he moved too quickly, a loud tear would fill the room and there'd be a hole running down his back or under his armpits. He'd just tear the sleeves off, but the fabric wouldn't always tear right and run down his chest as well exposing the dense amount of dark hair covering his pecs.
His mom finally settled on just getting him 1 XXL shirt and some soft massive fabric shorts that would stretch to his growing size. But even that shirt was starting to look a bit strained against his muscular chest. She was tired of having to spend so much money on clothes when he'd always just been a medium. The only thing that bothered her more was having to buy a drain catacher for the amount of hair that coarse black hair that would accumulate in the shower.
It was even more surprising to see him shoot past his dad in height. The Montgomery's were a pretty average sized family. Not one of them was above 5'9", yet over the summer, watching Ethan grow taller and taller than the rest of his family was a bit funny. He had to look down on everyone. And his body filled every doorway he stepped into.
Ethan sat down, dropping my pizza in front of me. In front of him, his pizza was loaded with sausage and pepperoni. "What?" he asked. I knew I was starting, but I couldn't help it. Even his ears had grown small, pointed tips and his teeth were just a bit sharper. His hair was almost completely black and ran up and down his arms. While a bit of a wild beard covered his face. His eyes were thinner, looking more menacing and intimidating.
"So... You want to be a werewolf?" I teased. "Cause you're not one?"
Ethan paused. "Not this shit again," he growled. It almost sounded animalistic as he said it. The deep commanding sound sent a shiver down my spine, but I had an instinctual reaction knowing that he wouldn't hurt me. Suddenly new memories of Ethan scaring off just about any person surfaced. Even though he stayed the same person, with his new size most people found it indescribably intimidating. "It was a joke. Werewolves aren't real."
"Right... And you just embody one because..." I led him on.
"It's puberty," Ethan growled again. This time taking a bit of his pizza to ignore me. "That's what the doctor said. Says I'm producing tons of testosterone and other growth like chemicals."
"But what does your vet say?" I continued to mock him.
"Says I'm the healthiest pup she's ever seen," Ethan said. He stayed quiet for a few seconds before setting the pizza down. "What's it going to get you to stop?"
"How about we hang out tonight? It's a full moon, and you obviously won't turn because you're not a werewolf."
He froze up. "Can't."
"Because you're a werewolf?"
"N-no," Ethan's tough guy persona faltered for a second. "It's just I have something else going on."
"Like turning into a werewolf?"
I could see him grinding his teeth. Normally, I was pretty lax and didn't force him to do anything. But watching the big guy squirm was kind of fun. However, I put the notebook beneath the table and quickly added a new sentence, 'Ethan Montgomery finally feels comfortable telling me he's a werewolf.' I watched as his anger subsided a bit as he gave in.
"Fine," Ethan said. "We'll hang out tonight. Just quit being weird about it. Okay?"
"Okay," I nodded.
