As Troy lay whining and panting, with a small puddle leaking out of her onto her owner’s nice hardwood floor, she knew what had happened. The Book of Body must have contained a spell that let its owner impregnate someone else, and that woman had used it on Troy. Even worse, the spell let the caster set the status of the pregnancy, and Troy was now in labor.
Two more facts were perhaps more frightening:
One: as a kid Troy’s German Shepard had gotten pregnant so she knew what that was supposed to look like but looking down at her own belly revealed that it was far, far more distended than it should be.
Two: One of Troy’s puppies was firmly lodged in the middle of her pelvis which, from what she could tell, was about halfway down her birth canal. And she was exhausted. From both the position of the puppy and how sore her body was, it felt like she had been birthing for hours…
Could that woman make her pregnant with something like a Great Dane? Something that was too big for Troy to be able to push out? And if she could… did she?
Troy saw RK walk over to her and examine her collar.
“How curious, what happened to you Sophie?”
Troy realized that RK was talking to her and the name sounded… familiar. Her thoughts on the matter were interrupted, however, as the woman walked back inside.
“Did you make her too fat to move or something?” RK asked, “her stomach is huge.”
“In a way, but that’s not fat,” laughed the woman. “She’s about 8 hours into a very difficult labor. Don’t worry, she won’t be following us anytime soon.”
“Difficult how?”
“She’s a few weeks overdue with a dozen purebred puppies.”
“A few weeks? And 12 puppies? Won’t that kill her, I thought the goal was to just slow her down…”
“Don’t worry, I made a few modifications to her body, the time is normal for her. Its an impossible fit for a normal dog but she’ll stretch... eventually. And 12 puppies are normal for a German Shepherd. She’ll be fine. She just has awhile to go and she won’t be moving around much for a week or two after, now grab the book and lets get out of here.”
