As Fukushu departed, the Boss now exited his office. He would abide by the kitsunes terms temporarily, much to Casseus confusion."So why agree to the terms," Casseus asked as they made their way towards medical. The Boss said nothing, pausing in front of an observation window as he studied both Evan and Morgan.
Evan appeared to have recovered, the dark wizard sitting by his aunts bedside with a forlorn expression. Morgan, for now, was stable yet unconscious. "You ever study world history," the Boss asked. Casseus nodded, still unsure where he was going with this.
"Always been a big history buff," the Boss continued. "Its amazing how the slightest decision can alter things. Take the Nazis for instance."
"The Nazis," Casseus asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yep the Nazis. They were on their way to conquering the world." The Boss now turned to Casseus, noting the befuddled look on his face.
"Dont get me wrong they were abhorrent," the Boss said quickly. "I mean they did things even I wouldn't do but, they were on their way to fulfilling their vision. Until one fatal error."
"What error?"
The Boss now leaned closer, watching as a look of anger and grief washed over Evans face. "You see at the start of World War 2 Germany had a non aggression pact with Russia," he said. "Germany only needed to focus on the West. Thats how they were able to conquer most of Europe. Then they did the dumbest thing imaginable. They got caught up in a land war in Asia."
"A two front war," Casseus stated.
"See you're catching on," the Boss replied happily. "When Germany got caught up in a war on two fronts they signed their own death sentence. You divide your focus, divide your forces and next thing you know, BOOM, game over."
"So we forget the kits and focus on the Catalyst," Casseus stated.
"Exactly," the Boss replied. "Individually we can handle both Fukushu and this kid. Together, well...as you can see the results of been less than desirable."
"So take out the Catalyst before focusing on the kitsune," Casseus said. "So what do you have planned for the Catalyst." The Boss now gestured towards Evan and Morgan, Casseus rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Evan maybe powerful but I do not believe he can win."
"Oh he can't," the Boss replied. "But he's not the one I'm thinking of." Casseus eyes went wide as he now stared at the unconscious body of Morgan Carlson.
"Lets face it the kids powerful but he's a hothead," the Boss said. "Hes going to sneak out of here, attack the Catalyst, and probably get himself killed. So how do you think his dear Aunt Morgan will react when the Catalyst destroys her beloved nephew?"
"Poorly," Casseus grinned.
"Understatement of the year right there," the Boss chuckled. "And that's what I'm looking for. I want Morgans dark roots to resurface. I want her angry, vicious, remorseless. We can barely control her. How do you think a rookie Catalyst will fare against her?" Casseus nodded, a smirk plastered across his cracked face.
"Let the kits be we've got time," the Boss said. "We learn from history and don't repeat its mistakes. First the Catalyst, then Fukushu. When its all said and done, it will be them who are just a footnote in history."
