It began when I made her clothes disappear

Sarah wakes up and thinks she's dreaming of being a monster

Before I had an opportunity to further explore the rather remarkable ethical position I had eagerly placed myself in, the ground beneath my feet began to tremble. As I watched in numb awe, the Behemoth shuddered.. possibly stretching as she woke.. and began to position her limbs to rise. Slowly, with a rumbling moan that vibrated through my entire body, the creature lifted itself into a standing position. I felt compelled to run for my life as the enormous beast rose higher and higher above my head into the infinite white void of our former bedroom, and yet all I could do was stare. In a few moments, the Behemoth had risen to its full height, looming above me as tall as a tower. It began shifting its six legs, stomping the ground as though ready to start walking, but suddenly stopped cold. Neckless, the beast's entire trunk shifted from side to side as it took in its environment, and then down as it glanced with six bulging, arachnid eyes down the length of its vast forelegs. And then at me.

A throbbing, gurgling sound began to well up out of the thing. Its gaping, sharp-toothed maw began to flex, and suddenly, it spoke.

"HONEY?"

The voice, if it could be called that, was a rumbling, thrumming, rasping belch, utterly without inflection. Just noise pressed into service as a voice. It spoke again, slowly.

"WHAT'S GOING ON?"

I stared up into the monstrous face of the creature and could barely reconcile the idea in my mind that this was actually Sarah, my wife. Even after watching her change with my own eyes, my brain rebelled at the notion. And, yet, it was speaking to me, expecting an answer.

"It's.. it's just a dream, Sarah!" I yelled at the creature. "You're still asleep and you're having a dream!"

"I'M DREAMING?" The Behemoth began to turn around, gradually, its huge limbs thudding into the ground, nearly knocking me off my feet. "WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME?"

"You're dreaming that you're a Behemoth, Sarah!" I yelled. Could it even hear me? "From that Stephen King movie! The Mist!"

"THE MIST?"

"Yes! It's just a dream!"

"I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MIST, HAVE I?" grunted the beast in a flat monotone.

"I'm pretty sure you have, otherwise why would you be dreaming about it?"

"I SUPPOSE SO." it reasoned, lumbering slowly in a vast circle. "I'M SO BIG." It turned finally to stare down at me again. "YOU'RE SO TINY. THIS IS FUNNY." moaned the Behemoth, its noises indicating no hint of humor or anything else resembling a human emotion.

It then dawned on me.. washed over me like a cold wave.. that I actually had it in my power to leave Sarah like this forever, and a tingling thrill swept up through me. The Imp of the Perverse. I knew I wouldn't, and yet there was nothing to say I couldn't. And right now, this creature, this unimaginable monstrosity bearing some semblance of my wife's mind existed at my whim. And it thought it was all a dream. If only it knew.

"Hey, Sarah!" I shouted up to it. "It's been a long time since we hit the club. How about going dancing?"

"I CAN'T GO TO THE CLUB LOOKING LIKE THIS, HONEY." replied the Behemoth. "I WOULDN'T EVEN FIT INSIDE A CLUB. DON'T BE SILLY."

"Maybe you could dance for me right here, then!"

"I'M TOO BIG TO DANCE."

"No, you're not! I'll even supply the music!" I said, and then I made a quick wish and the strains of "Naughty H" by Faderhead filled the air from literally nowhere. Slowly, steadily, the Behemoth began to rock its body to the hard rhythm, inhuman motions in mockery of a sensual human dance. Its six limbs pounded the ground in time with the rhythm, its smaller appendages flexing and writhing in sync. As a human, Sarah had been quite a good dancer. This was something else, something never seen before by anyone, anywhere. "That's it!" I yelled. "Go, baby, go!"

And the Behemoth danced.
