"...Yuna Hayashida!" Kyūri thundered.
"I'm sure Maiko will be delighted," Yuna chuckled to Misaki. "Shi's had a crush on me since we met." The pure white female kitsune then skipped up to the old kappa, feeling Maiko's eyes on her bare breasts.
"Put your hungry eyes back in their sockets!" Kyūri growled at the horny yako. He then turned his gaze to Yuna and smiled. "Congratulations, Yuna-san. I can tell that you shall make Takarazuka Music School proud in America... unlike some yokai." He glared at Maiko, who was once again showing off to the crowd with hir foxfire displays.
"I will, Kyūri-sensei," Yuna said seriously, bowing slightly. "I promise."
Kyūri almost bowed back before remembering the risk of spilling the water in his sara. "Such a polite young kitsune." He handed her the certification. "Here you go. You're all set to leave for America tomorrow."
"And you're all set to duet with me!" Maiko chirped excitedly, clasping a startled Yuna's hands. Maiko turned to Natsuki and Yoshino. "Do you two know 'People Will Say We're in Love' from Oklahoma!?"
"Sure do!" Yoshino answered cheerfully.
"Then drum away, my friends!" laughed Maiko. The two obese tanuki happily complied, pounding out the Rodgers and Hammerstein tune on their bulbous bellies like there was no tomorrow.
As Maiko and Yuna launched into their musical number, Kyūri turned to his granddaughter. "Now for the big one, Nariko-chan. Remember, it'll be the heaviest sack yet."
"You mean the one for the free slot, Grandpa?" Nariko asked nervously.
"I'm afraid so, little one," Kyūri sighed. "Well, no sense putting it off. All that singing'll keep the crowd occupied while we're stumbling around, after all."
As the song continued, Kyūri dumped the pot and ventured back inside with Nariko. They grabbed a hold of the last and largest sack and began dragging it outside. The sack was heavy and the going was slow, but the two kappas made progress little by little. As the duet wound down, Kyūri hoisted the sack over the chankonabe pot in a tremendous feat of strength, pouring the paper slips into the pot just as the last note of the song died.
Kyūri waved for attention as the two kitsune returned to the audience. "And now we come to the last draw of the evening! This is a free slot open to any yokai teenager in Japan. If you lost one of the prior draws, this is your second chance. If your school isn't officially represented in the exchange program this year, this is your opportunity to participate. Now, to draw!"
Kyūri reached into the pot, feeling around for whatever paper the kami willed. He stooped deep over the pot. Suddenly, the old, fat kappa lost his balance. He fell straight into the pot, spilling his head water and sending papers everywhere. Humiya ran up to the pot and grabbed hir master, hauling him off to the river for a refill.
One of the paper slips fluttered in front of little Nariko, and she excitedly grabbed it. "Ooh, my turn to read one! The winner is..."
