Selena and Tatiana waved over to Ellie and Harper as they entered the cafeteria. The two of them waved back and sat down at the werehyena and vampire's table.
"Hi, guys!" Selena grinned. "Excited for Japan tomorrow?"
"We sure are!" Ellie grinned. The skinny girl attacked her large pile of food with admirable energy.
Tatiana chuckled. "I hope you realize you can't get your fat back by pigging out."
"I know," said Ellie. "I'm just practicing for my sumo diet."
"We've been reading up on yokai today," Harper said. "Joelle actually sneaked into our school to ask us for advice."
"Joelle?" asked Tatiana.
"You know, Kristi the camgirl's girlfriend," said Harper.
"She's a little self-conscious about being the only human in our six-person exchange student group," said Ellie. "She's thinking about transforming."
"She's not sure what to become, though," said Harper. "Part of her wants to be a werehyena like me, Ellie, Beck, and Brianna. On the other hand, she kinda wants to be a werevixen like Kristi. But she's also considering becoming a yokai. Since Ellie borrowed an old book on yokai from Morgana, Joelle dropped by to read it with Beck, Brianna, Ellie, and me."
"Has Joelle figured out what she wants yet?" Selena asked.
"She knows she doesn't want to be a jorogumo," said Harper. "Spiders freak her out."
"I think Joelle'd rather be the lone human," Ellie observed. "Anything other than a spider-woman."
"I always thought spiders were kinda cute," Tatiana said a bit defensively.
"No offense, Tats," Selena laughed, "but vampires kinda have niche tastes." She gave her undead girlfriend a quick hug before turning back to her two packmates. "So, is Kristi gonna continue her camshow in Japan once she gets fat again? Is jellyvixen698 about to make her triumphant return to the internet?"
"I wouldn't think so," said Ellie. "Morgana says Kyūri-sensei's very big on respect. I'm not sure he'd be okay with a camgirl streaming from his heya." The fat-loving werehyena sighed. "Sucks."
"Don't be down," Selena smiled. "I'm sure she'll start up again whenever she gets back to the United States. Say, what are you most excited to see in Japan? Won't be long now."
"The food," Ellie said. "That, and being able to put on weight from the food!"
"I'm hoping to take manga-drawing lessons," Harper said.
"That's my mate!" Ellie laughed. "Ever the artist!"
"I'll be the first werehyena ever to be a mangaka!" laughed Harper.
"Now, you're all set to leave in the morning?" Selena asked. "Everything's taken care of?"
"Yep," said Ellie. "I'm all packed."
"Same," said Harper.
"The next full moon won't be the same without the two of you, y'know," Selena smiled sadly.
"We'll think of you and our packmates when we see it," said Harper.
"Hey, how are you gonna communicate when you get there?" asked Tatiana. "You don't speak Japanese, do you?"
"Morgana's going to give us special potions that let us speak it tomorrow," said Ellie.
"Oh, cool!" Tatiana grinned.
"Well, we'd better get back to Beck and Brianna's table," said Ellie. "They'll want to go over more of the yokai book with us. Good thing Joelle left; the nastier yokai in that book were scaring her half to death."
"Maybe she'll be less freaked by the supernatural once she joins it like we all did," Harper wondered.
"Maybe," Selena shrugged. "Bye, guys! I'll meet up with you once I'm done with today's recruiting!"
"Mind if I go sit with the other von Karnsteins for a bit, Lena?" asked Tatiana. "I've been meaning to have a chat with Dracona."
"Sure thing, Tats," said Selena. "Bye."
