You decide to head over to the romance section. Your sister was super into this new teen romance novel that had just come out, and you had to admit you were(secretly) kind of interested to see if it was as good as she kept insisting it was. You knew no one you knew would be visiting the library on a Wednesday afternoon, so you guessed you wouldn’t run into anyone you knew and get embarrassed. Checking the shelves, you found that sure enough, the library had the book you were looking for.
You headed over to a secluded corner of the library and settled down in a chair to start reading. The book was a supernatural romance novel, dealing with a love triangle between a teenage girl named Claire who is secretly vampire hunter, a handsome guy from her high school who recently was transformed into a vampire, and one of her fellow vampire hunters, all while a new vampire lord is rising and planning to wage war against humanity. It’s not exactly the most original premise, but the author does a good job of making you care about the characters, and injecting some humorous moments into their story as well.
You are so caught up in the story, in fact, that you don’t even notice yourself beginning to shrink. You were never the tallest guy around, but soon you’ve become downright petite. Your reddish blonde hair begins to length as well, flowing down to your shoulders as your shirt morphs into a light pink blouse. Your pants likewise begin to change, becoming a pair of trendily ripped jeans.
As you continue reading about Claire’s journey and her battles with the vampire lord’s minions—and her struggle to find a cure for Ryan, and understand her feelings—your head begins to feel strange, fuzzy almost. A tingling feeling spreads across your body and your heart skips a beat as Claire and Ryan, the boy she is trying she is trying to help cure, share a kiss you hush internally about how dreamy the whole situation was—well, aside from whole evil vampire army, anyway. A pair of modest size breasts slowly expand outwards on your chest, cradled by a bra which materializes to hold them, as your body hair melts away and your face becomes feminine.
As you approach the novel’s climax, the changes sweeping across your body finish, leaving you entirely female. Your old memories fade away as new ones emerge to replace them. You find you can’t think of yourself by your old name….whatever it was…..any more. In fact, the harder you try and remember, the more your memories state that you are Lucy Teal, a sixteen year old girl at the local high school, and that you just looooooved romance novels. You check your phone and see your BFF Kelly texted you, asking to meet up at the local park later.
Finally coming to the end of the book, you close it and place it back on the self where you found it, not noticing the librarian’s knowing look and half smile as you do so. You decide…..
